So far University(UKZN) has been great to me, filled with exceptionally good people from students to Professors who really inspires us to develop deep love for our courses especially Dr Surban who is the main lecture for Introduction to Laws. However, imposter syndrome will always be there at Uni as there are students who really dress well here and having few clothes demotivated you from even attending but speaking to the right people about imposter really helps. Plus, there are people and departments on campus that offer free counselling services which is great to me because a lot of us as students really go through a lot! The volume of work is also a lot here at University so you really need to put an effort that’s 10× or more than the effort you used to put in your High School work. Another thing that has really shocked me about varsity is something called DP(Dully Performed). This is some sort of a permit of certificate that you must get in order to be able to sit for an exam ans it has strict requirements such as a specific assessment mark and tutorial as well as lecture attendance. Trust me, you don’t wanna end up on the DP refusal list cos that can be very hectic as it means you will not be able to sit for your Exam, imagine! Usually here at UKZN specifically on the School of Law, most modules require 80% attendance for lectures, 100% attendance tutorials and a 40% assessment mark. This means that if you miss 1 tutorial, your DP will be refused and you won’t sit for an exam. I would not advice anyone to join or affiliate themselves with student’s political organisations on his first year because politics here bring a lot of pandemonium plus there are Razzmatazz left right and centre so you might not get time to catch up on your studies.
View moreI would definitely recommend UKZN, this University is in the top 3 best Universities in South Africa, its number 6 best Universities in Africa and number 501 best Universities in the world.
The said school has state of the art facilities some of the best professors and educators in the country. The staff and chancellor work extremely hard to maintain the Schools good standard and reputation.
The students are friendly, the staff professional and knowledgeable. Depending on the course your are studying some of the classes are a bit difficult, however that is nothing hard work and studying cannot overcome.
Overall I love UKZN and I am extremely proud to be a UKZN alumni
This University is in the top 3 of the best Universities in South Africa. It is rated number 6 in Africa and number 501 in the world. The reason for this is that the lecturers, Chancellor, and staff are exceptionally good educators who maintain the standard of the school and make sure it never drops. The campus and students are friendly and it has state of the art facilities. I enjoyed every moment and I personally think it is the best in the Country.
View moreIt’s quite an average varsity, quite like any other in SA it doesn’t stand out in anyway… I honestly don’t like the horrible relationship between the SRC and the school governing body, that’s really my main problem strikes have always interfered with the academic timetable putting pressure on us as students… There’s honestly nothing I like about UKZN except for the lecturers, my lecturers were pretty good teachers and great human beings. So I can say the staff at UKZN is what I like about UKZN… I would probably recommend it to someone, since the fees are not too high and the quality of teaching isn’t that bad.
View moreIt is a good school yes , but the conditions sometimes are terrible . From the service , housing , finance and all the faculties. Ukzn is regarded as one of the traditional universities with racism and sometimes needs are not met, now I have issues with the housing department from February and until now I’m suffering from that other than that academically wise there are no problems
View moreI wouldnt say it’s the worst university but I also cant say it’s the best, it’s all the same to me and I don’t have any problem studying here, I wouldnt say no to going to another university. It’s all the same to me
View moreWhen I was changing degrees ukzn made everything so easy for me and it wasnt any hassles. I would recommend anyone to come to this university. I’ve had only best experiences bith academically and student wise
View moreThings re forever changing and you have no idea if the information you have right now might be useful cause I had to retake a module after I was informed that there was no special exam only for they to approve it in May when I had registered. It’s the incompetence of staff for me
View moreI have been with this institution for a while and it is a very good institution however the amount of academic work Tend To Be overwhelming. There are certain programs available for students that help with such academic problems I would recommend it to someone else.
