My time at Cape Peninsula University of Technology has been incredibly rewarding, and I genuinely feel it’s one of the best choices a student can make for practical, career-focused education in South Africa.
What stood out the most were the classes and hands-on learning approach. Lecturers don’t just teach theory—they bring real industry experience into the classroom, making lessons practical, engaging, and relevant. Many modules included projects that mirrored real-world challenges, which really helped build confidence and skills.
The professors deserve special mention. They’re approachable, supportive, and genuinely invested in students’ success. I always felt comfortable asking questions or seeking guidance, and many of them went out of their way to provide resources, mentorship, or career advice.
Campus life was another highlight. CPUT has a vibrant, diverse student community with plenty of events, clubs, and opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s academic societies, sports, or social activities, there’s always something happening. The facilities libraries, labs, and study areas—are well-equipped and accessible, which made studying much easier.
Overall, CPUT offers a strong blend of academic quality, practical experience, and an inspiring campus environment. I would confidently recommend it to any future student looking for a university that truly prepares you for the working world.

I am a student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology doing my final year in Information Technology at Cape Town Campus, CPUT is a very good institution with a very vibrant and diverse but the downside about it is that the staff members are not competent enough, even right now i do not have a place to stay because housing department hasn’t placed us for holiday accommodation and i stay very far. 1000km away from home. I had to find alternatives until they start approving and providing us with a place to stay, other than that if you just entered University level you need to be strong, bold and most important, you need to know what you are there for because students tend to forget what brings them to university. There is huge amount of freedom at university and students tends to misuse that freedom by doing unnecessary things and forgetting what they are there for. All in all, university is such a very useful place to develop yourself both mentally and psychologically. this depends on a student’s willingness
View moreMy experience at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) was a mixed bag, filled with both positives and negatives. Overall, it was a journey of growth and learning, but it had its challenges along the way. I found many of the professors and staff members at CPUT to be genuinely supportive and invested in their students’ success. Their guidance and mentorship were instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges of academia. Like any large institution, CPUT had its fair share of administrative hurdles. From registration issues to bureaucratic delays, navigating the administrative processes could be frustrating at times. Despite its shortcomings, I would still recommend CPUT to prospective students, albeit with some caveats. It offers a unique learning environment with a strong emphasis on practical skills and a diverse community. However, potential students should be prepared to navigate administrative challenges and advocate for themselves to make the most of their time at the university. With the right mindset and determination, CPUT can provide a valuable education and set students on the path to success.
