I studied for a degree in Accounting at the University of Fort Hare. Overall, my experience was positive. The university has a rich history and offers a strong academic program in commerce, which was beneficial for my career in accounting.
What I liked:
Academic Standards: The Accounting program was well-structured, and the lecturers were knowledgeable, especially in areas like financial management and auditing.
Diversity: The diverse student population contributed to a dynamic and enriching learning environment.
Reputation: The university is well-respected, particularly in South Africa, for producing professionals in various fields.
What I disliked:
Infrastructure: Some of the facilities could be improved, particularly with regard to modern study spaces and library resources.
Administration: At times, administrative processes were slow, which could be frustrating, especially during registration and exam periods.
Would I recommend it? Yes, I would recommend the University of Fort Hare for students interested in studying Accounting or other related fields. It provides a solid foundation in commerce, and despite a few challenges, the overall experience was valuable.
I really don’t like the university but I think their modules are broad enough for what I want. So I’m here for academics. I’m not really a social person so I don’t know much about the student life, but the lecturers are amazing. I would recommend UFH to someone looking to spread wings academically.

Recommendation, yesss. Definitely because I think the Nkulu department they have is a plus when looking for a job. I’m not sure about student life as I am taking the online coursework.
