In my personal opinion as a student, the Russian as a Foreign Language online course from Ural Federal University feels like a very valuable and approachable way to begin learning Russian. What stood out to me right away is that it doesn’t feel overwhelming, even for someone with little or no previous experience. The course seems to build up language skills step by step, which makes it feel supportive and manageable.
One thing I especially appreciate is that it’s online, so I can learn at my own pace and fit it around my other commitments. As someone who studies and works at the same time, having the flexibility to revisit lessons or practice pronunciation when it suits me is a big advantage. It feels less stressful and more encouraging than trying to keep up with a rigid schedule.
The content itself feels practical and relevant. I like that it focuses on everyday language use—basic conversations, vocabulary, and grammar that I can actually apply in real situations. It doesn’t feel like just memorizing words for the sake of it; instead, it feels like I’m slowly getting comfortable with how Russian is really spoken.
Overall, my personal impression is that this online Russian course is a great choice for anyone who wants an accessible and well-structured introduction to the language. It feels engaging, flexible, and genuinely helpful for building confidence in learning a new language from scratch

I believe this is a great focus for education.
The programme is intense for the first 2 years, the last 2 years allow you to have more time for yourself and extracurricular activities.
The facilities of the university are old, there aren’t many modern buildings(except for some student dormitories), however the university is very well located and the architecture is beautiful.
Bureaucracy exists in Russia, so you must be prepared for some delays in some processes as an international student. Usually it’s things that can be solved, but a little patience is needed.
