Student review [#14653] for Electrical and Electronics Engineering
at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University - SPbPU

I am studying in the direction of electric power and electrical engineering in the last year of undergraduate studies. A good university, in my speciality one of the best in Russia, has a military department. The university is located at the Polytechnic metro station, far from the historical centre of St. Petersburg, but the university campus itself is a cultural monument. Audiences begin to be repaired, but most of them remain in their original form with ordinary chalkboards and peeling plaster, the main building inside is very beautiful and is being watched. There is also a new research building, all conferences and exhibitions are held in it. The hostels are located at Lesnaya, Ploschad Vuzhstva, Akademicheskaya stations and their condition is not very good, we did the repairs ourselves, most of the hostels are located on Lesnaya and are hostels of the corridor type, the toilet and shower are shared and are on the floor, however, if you are a foreign student you will be accommodated in new block-type hostel (toilet and shower for 2 rooms) within walking distance from the university. Equipment for laboratory work has not been updated since the opening of the university, but slowly new equipment is beginning to appear, despite all this, the equipment is in good condition and fully meets educational goals. Teachers at the university are different, from young graduate students to professors at an age where learning seems easy and somewhere is very difficult, a lot at the university depends on the teacher. In basic subjects they give thorough knowledge and ask in the same way, therefore even if you study poorly, you will know the basics. Student life at the university is rich, an endless number of student associations, ranging from construction teams to international communities such as BEST and EESTEC. There are opportunities for further career, however, a lot depends on the student himself, whether he is active in terms of finding work while studying at career forums, as well as speaking at conferences, cases and contests. To summarize, the University is good, but if your goal is to get a diploma, not knowledge, it is better to go to another university.
