I entered the National Research University Higher School of Economics in 2017, and studied in the educational program “International Relations”, the faculty of “World Economy and World Politics”. It was a very difficult 4 years of my life, after defending my diploma, it was as if the yoke fell from my neck. Among the positive – a decent number of hours devoted to the study of foreign languages. Everything else on this program is either outdated, or no one needs it or repeated several times. The load was quite intense, but the results were not worth it. Often there was a feeling that you were working just like that, without gaining useful knowledge. Perhaps the point is in the program and its theoretical bias, from the practical one, can only learn the ability to write texts – more, in fact, you will not be taught anything. About a third of the students dropped out or were expelled, none of the familiar classmates liked the program, and everyone dreamed of graduation day. There were good teachers who sincerely wanted to teach us something, but there were also those who imagined themselves to be a star, whose level students a priori had to correspond to. Although this, I think, is found in all programs.
Summing up, I can say that I am not going to work by profession. Those who continued their education further in this area are also not many (however, there are such people). The Higher School of Economics is a good (by Russian standards) university, I have many friends who study there in other programs. However, the program “International Relations” left behind only a bitter aftertaste and 4 wasted years.
