You have to choose the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics if you want to become a statistical analyst, because it offers you knowledge from theoretical development to research on applied economic problems.
View moreThe Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies is by far the best university in Romania specializing in Economics, Business and everything around them.
The quality of the education is really high and a degree from this university weighs a lot in Romania, given its prestige. However, in my opinion, a lot of things need to be improved. Although things here are way better than at other prestigious universities in Romania, they can definitely be better. On a cost / benefits analysis, the tuition fees are too high for the facilities it offers. ASE has many buildings, but only two of them are decent. There are some modern classrooms in the others as well, but they are usually sponsored by a private company and they’re locked most of the time. Basically, you must be very lucky to get to study in those classrooms. The ordinary classrooms don’t have a video projector, which is more than necessary. The teachers are well prepared and mostly open minded, but from time to time you can also see some frustrated teachers who left their mind back in the times of communism.
Fortunately, ASE has a very good feedback programme and at the end of every semester the students can fill it 100% anonymously. However, measures based on the feedbacks are only taken on new teachers, not on the ones who worked here for a lot of time.
I highly recommend this university if you want to study economic studies in Romania, because it’s the only decent option. I still hope, though, that they will want to offer something more than decent and that they will take all the necessary measures to come to the 21st century.
P.S.: The teachers need to check their emails more than once a month, they need to learn to answer those emails as well and some of the secretaries really need to learn some manners!
P.P.S.: I also hope they will take care of their English websites and that they will try to attract more foreign students.
P.P.P.S.: Again, I also hope that they will try to sign Erasmus partnerships with more universities. At the faculty I’m studying, there are only three or four options. It’s not fair and it seems pretty ignorant.
ASE is the only university with an economic cybernetic profile in Romania and I’m glad I made this choice from the beginning. I’ve learned a lot of things in the field of economics and cybernetics and I can say that I would love to find a job in this domain, to be able to apply all this knowledge. Teachers from the newer generations are very open-minded and willing to teach us practical things. And the bolognia system that this university practices allows me to take a closer look at my own development side. So, I can say that ASE is trying its best to please us, the students, and I think it has a brighter future ahead.
View moreFirstly, I would recommend to fill up your schedule with other activities, even work in domain, because there is a lot of free time and the knowledge you acquire only at university is far from enough.
Unfortunately, the exams are pretty hard, at least at Economic Informatics, but not impossible.
The teachers are sometimes way too exigent considering their teaching activity.
This university leaves entirely up to you the success in the domain you have chosen.
The best advice would be not to expect amazing and interesting academical activities, but to get involved in other stuff and work hard on your own.
My overall opinion is ok, it could have been a lot better.
I think the focus in this university is more on the professors, not the students. Even if we are talking about our cafeteria, bathrooms or schedules, the university’s administrators tend to care and develop only our staff’s necessities.
Nevertheless, this wouldn’t really be the problem, if this educational environment looked a lot less like a money-making industry, where the return-on-investment for our money and time doesn’t equal high-quality education.
I think overall it’s a great experience, there are lots of useful things that you learn among these years and I think it’s a plus the fact that you have a lot of spare time which you can use for your self-improvement. It’s sometimes a bit too theoretical rather than focusing on the practical side, but like I said, overall the facilities it provides and student life are great.
View moreAcademy of Economic Studies Bucharest is the best university from Romania in this domain. I recommend it if you enjoy doing maths and economics. The teachers have experience and they keep useful courses. Also, there are a lot of opportunities during the student years and lots of projects for developping skills.
