I think the university is good overall. I have very good professors, the building itself is also good, and there’s academic life (not much, but it’s there). It has some drawbacks associated with certain requirements for student workers (not my case, but I’m aware of the lack of clarification), disorganized academic services, and a lack of training exercises. Other than that, the university is good. But I would recommend it to new students.
View moreHaving previously attended the University of Minho and currently studying at the University of Porto, I immediately noticed a significant difference in the quality of the institutions. The University of Porto, recognized as the best university in Portugal, truly lives up to its reputation. As I am currently studying Psychology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, my review is particularly influenced by my experience within this faculty.
The teaching quality is exceptional. Most of the professors are well-prepared, offering clear and dynamic lectures. Overall, the infrastructure is good, providing us with the necessary resources to study, such as libraries, study rooms, and laboratories. Whenever we have doubts, most professors are available to assist us either by email or in person during office hours.
The relationship between students and professors is excellent. The atmosphere is inclusive and welcoming, with a strong commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities and the LGBT community. Examples of this inclusivity include accessible bathrooms, several courses on LGBT topics, elevators, wide corridors, ramps, and adapted bathrooms, among others.
The university offers a wide range of events organized by various faculties, which are shared with all students of the University of Porto, allowing everyone to participate. There are also important programs such as mentorship, where senior students support newcomers, guiding them through the transition from secondary school to higher education. Additionally, there are sports activities, volunteer programs, and internships that help us develop our skills in our specific fields. Furthermore, we have the opportunity to participate in research programs where we work alongside experienced professionals in the field.
Overall, my experience at the University of Porto has been incredibly positive. The quality of education, the supportive and inclusive environment, and the wide range of opportunities for personal and professional development make it an outstanding institution. I am grateful for the resources available and the commitment of the faculty and staff to ensuring that students have a fulfilling and enriching university experience. I truly believe that the University of Porto provides an excellent foundation for both academic success and personal growth.
View moreThe diverse and dynamic campus environment at University of Porto has been instrumental in my personal development and relationships with fellow students. Through its emphasis on practical skill acquisition and professional networking, the university has equipped me with the competencies and exposure required for career advancement. Active participation in the university’s community has honed my leadership capabilities and broadened my global outlook.
View moreAs for the University of Porto overall, it’s one of the most wanted in Portugal, which shows its value. As it was my first option, in general, I’m pleased with my course. However, the courses in Social Sciences tend to be over theoretical, with little field experiences until entering the Master’s Degree. As Porto is such an up and coming city, the accommodation is very expensive.
