The Institute

Setúbal’s five higher education schools are as follows: the School of Business Administration, School of Education, School of Health, Setúbal School of Technology, and the Barreiro School of Technology. These schools are spread over 2 campuses; the first in Setúbal and second the Barreiro campus, where only one of the five schools is locates – the Barreiro School of Technology. Around 6,500 students attend classes within these five schools, while the institute’s staff amounts to roughly 650. The institute is also open to international students.

As well as teaching its students in a way that combines theoretical with practical knowledge, the institute also conducts research which it aims to apply to the real world in the relevant industries.

Life at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal

There is a Students’ Welfare Unit at the Institute which provides financial support to students as well as other facilities such as medical assistance and sports facilities.

No part of the institute takes responsibility for students’ accommodation, but they do list some options which students may look into in order to find a place to live. One such possibility is Santiago’s Students Residence, located around 2km away from the institute. There are also bus routes to the institute.
