The experience of doing a bachelor program o at Nova SBE is hard to describe in a few lines, but the combination of challenging courses and a vast number of student clubs and initiatives to develop skills, work perfectly as a bridge between student life and the real world.

The best thing about nova is the community around the student. Every person is very nice and will give you a hand and every professor is open to help with questions we have. Another thing that very good is the kinds of infrastructure that the university has. Now one thing that should be carful is that is very hard and demanding, should always be studying and carful with classes, is you stop one/two weeks you could loose the semetre very easily

Great atmosphere, right by the beach. Rigorous but rewarding if you do the work, and the opportunities and people make up for it. I recommend joining a student club as they are one of the main contributors for having a good atmosphere.

Nova has a unique location perfect for studies with a beach to relax and plenty of spaces to work.
Student life is great with a lot of sunset parties and a great community that supports the students. It can be a bit competitive but everyone is sincerely down to earth and amazing to work with and hang out.
The international exposure and community is also incredible as you can meet anyone that has lived from all around the world. Therefore increase the cultural knowledge and expanding the horizons that we knew of.

Nova SBE offered me a perfectly organized experience from the application process up until the thesis hand-in. This really differentiates Nova: you get answers from responsible point of contacts in hours vs. days or weeks in other institutions. With that, Nova’s administration reminded me of a well managed multinational company. Studying in one of the greatest campuses (especially if you like to be close to the sea) gives you a special feeling day to day.
Having courses with experts on their fields and also from several high-positioned functionals gave me in a short time knowledge transfer insights of the status quo of my field and the tools how to develop those further in academia or private sector positions.
Even though the programme is pretty demanding (Masters in Economics) I am very thankful for the experience and the support Nova gave me with everything! I definitely recommend the school and the offered programs.

Interactive (and demanding) classes and professores that care about you and your progression. Lots of group projects, which help you to stay connected to the topic throughout the semester

Nova SBE is undoubtedly the best Business School in Portugal, offering the most powerful university experience. The courses are interesting, the staff is innovative, and the campus is green. Everyone here is supportive and hard working, which fosters a culture of projects and continuous and disruptive growth.

Just finished my bachelors in Economics at NOVA and can say that my time there has been great.
You are surrounded by ambitious but very friendly students who are not only from Lisbon but also from regions all over the country. Moreover, at the BSc level, foreign students mostly come from Portuguese speaking countries, who experience a smooth integration process in the broad student environment.
In general, professors are well prepared for the classes and speak a frankly good English. On the other hand, practical teachers mostly consist of students pursuing a MSc at NOVA, who also teach good quality classes and are approachable and available both inside and outside the classroom.
Personal

Personally, I would like to highlight that NOVA is a very modern university, which offers the opportunity to meet other students with similar interests through dozens of student clubs, while, at the same time, it is open for the local community (NOVA certainly is one of the favourite study points in the broader Lisbon area) and for internationals (Germans, Italians, Brazilians and so on) because of its prestigious masters programmes and beautiful location close to the beach.

On the other hand, even though student life is quite vibrant at NOVA with sunsets and parties organized every now and then by a numerous and seemingly well funded students union, and activities, case challenges and conferences co-organized by student clubs, I think that Carcavelos is a bit boring (other than the beach and NOVA, it is a calm place to live) and falls short in terms of academic tradition and post class activities compared to other colleges located in the centre of Lisbon. Furthermore, the traffic becomes a problem in rush hours and public transportation usually takes longer than 40 minutes to go either to Lisbon or Cascais. The Carcavelos area is described as expensive for accommodation and hard to find single bedrooms, with prices usually above 500 euros in a shared house.

Lastly, I greatly recommend you to apply if you are interested and expect a lot of sun, but also quite windy days!

The pressure, especially in Finance and Economics is incredibly high, first semester is about studying 8-12 hours daily, nonstop so it is a lot of pressure. Nova offers very insightful classes with lots of group works and weekly assignments. Miguel Lebre Freitas as Macroeconomist Prof and Paulo Manuel Marque Rodrigues as an Econometrics Prof were amazing teachers. Later we can choose from a huge number of different courses from different specialisations which is really nice as I got to elect real estate finance.

I’ve had an incredible experience at Nova SBE. The professors’ passion is contagious, and I’ve loved the interactive learning environment that encourages teamwork and requires dedication and hard work. The beautiful campus and supportive community have made it the perfect place for me to learn and grow.
