I found the IMBB department at the University of Lahore to be very supportive and research focused.
I wrote my MPhil thesis on stem cells and for that I had access to advanced laboratories such as molecular cloning labs, cell culture facilities, and microbial biotechnology labs.
The department is well-recognized in Pakistan and conduct job fairs, collaborations with PFSA for forensic students and collaboration with local industries, including a recent MoU with pharmaceutical partners to promote research (i.e. I needed Resveratrol for my research, got easily through university’s reference).
There’s animal house and animal handler that takes care of Research animals even on holidays.
There are also international collaborations and opportunities to learn about global research trends.
The teachers are qualified, helpful, and encourage student participation in projects and seminars. There’s a wall of ALUMNI for motivation.
Overall, my experience was positive, and IMBB is a great place for students interested in biological sciences.
Overall the university is good at accommodating staff, and faculty. I recommend that students who wish to excel in medicine apply here as the university has an attached teaching hospital! however, I would not recommend this university to candidates who are looking to graduate in CS or engineering related fields as they are better universities like NUST,FAST,NED in these majors.

I am grateful for the supportive and helpful supervisors who provide me with valuable hands-on training, making this academic journey a positive experience.
