Benue State University was not my first or second choice, but with time it grows on you. The school has its challenges strikes are frequent and the academic calendar can feel slow. The university is divided into two main campuses, along with the College of Health Sciences, which makes the structure easy to understand once you settle in.
One major drawback is transportation: buses and tricycles are not allowed inside the campus, so you’ll be doing a lot of walking. While this can be tiring, the upside is that you get your daily steps in. For new students, I strongly recommend applying for hostel accommodation. It’s affordable, saves you a lot of money on transport, and is stress-free if you secure a space but competition for slots is quite high.
As for academics, the lecturers generally do their best, though like everywhere, some are better than others. Campus life isn’t flashy, but it’s manageable if you adapt. Overall, I would give Benue State University a 5/10 not perfect, but an experience that teaches patience, resilience, and independence.

I enrolled in the law program at Benue State University, expecting to complete it within the standard five-year duration. However, due to various challenges, I ended up spending seven years to complete my studies.

One aspect that truly impressed me was the academic quality. The lecturers were knowledgeable, and the program provided value for the investment. The academic rigor and standards were high, and I appreciated the expertise of the faculty.

However, what I detested was the delay system, largely caused by frequent strikes. These disruptions significantly impacted my academic progress, forcing me to spend additional years completing my program.

To improve the student experience, I would recommend that the university takes steps to minimize strikes and adopt a more efficient digital system for result publication and documentation. This would enhance transparency, reduce delays, and provide students with easier access to their academic records.

Overall, while the academic aspects of my experience were commendable, the institutional challenges hindered my progress. With some key improvements, Benue State University could provide a more seamless and efficient educational experience for its students.

The University is one of the best in terms of academics. However, the strikes cause delays which makes one spend more time in school than usual. I would recommend it if the strikes are brought down to the rare minimum

Benue State University is one of the most fun filled school out there and I can say this because I am in it.
The students are welcoming, the lecturers are also warmly. They imbibe the culture of teaching students about entrepreneurship and are dedicated to their jobs.
I love all the fun activities we have during student week which covers social activities such as: career day, old school day, corporate day, bornfire nights etc.
I would recommend the school anytime.

In Benue state university, lectures are prioritized more than the students welfare. Where inculcating knowledge isn’t a bad thing, the disregard for students welfare and mental health tends to make it unhealthy. The living conditions campus especially for the boys isn’t habitable while the ladies live better a lot still has to be done in Thier hostels. The campus security is now up to standard, few years ago we couldn’t walk comfortably on campus especially in the night without the fear of being attacked or robbed, but that has been dealt with effectively. The students social life on campus is almost non existent as almost all social activities like parties have been banned indefinitely. Some of our class rooms are good enough while a few leave a lot to be said, this also gives the idea of preferential treatment for students of a particular department or faculty.
