Studying at the University of Ibadan has been a transformative journey. The academic structure is quite demanding, which has pushed me to become more disciplined and independent in my learning. The lecturers are knowledgeable, though sometimes accessibility outside lectures can be a challenge.
One thing I truly appreciate is the exposure to diverse student communities and the emphasis on excellence.
Despite the challenges, UI has shaped my academic mindset and helped me build resilience. I’ve also developed leadership and communication skills through various student activities and responsibilities.
Overall, it’s a place that challenges you—but also prepares you for life beyond school.
View moreWhat stood out most to me at the University of Ibadan was the academic rigor and quality of teaching. Many of the professors are not only experts in their fields but are also passionate about mentoring students. Courses are well-structured, and there is a strong emphasis on independent learning and critical thinking.
Campus life is vibrant and diverse, with a variety of student associations, cultural events, and recreational activities. The university’s library and research facilities are among the best in Nigeria, which really supports academic success.
Overall, the University of Ibadan offers a balanced environment for both academic excellence and personal development. Future students should be prepared for a demanding yet rewarding experience.
View moreTo be honest indeed UI is the first and the best university in Nigeria. My academic journey in the institution changes my life completely. They are equipped with the best academic man-power you can dream of anywhere in the world. They recreate in the ability to believe in myself and the I can excel no matter what. There academic environment is an arena of intellectual that focused genuinely on academic development. The only thing I don’t really like about the institution is non availability of enough scholarships to cater for the need of financially less privilege students like me. Because if am financially privileged I should have earned my PhD in Mathematics from the institution by now. But still the institution is the best academic experience I have in my academic journey. Thanks

The First and the best as fondly referred to. The number one school in Nigeria where you just have to put in your best to keep up. Challenges are challenging but the satisfaction that comes with overcoming them is bliss.
Highly recommend.
University of Ibadan is one of the best school in lagos with many fine view. The facilities there are top notch with tall buildings and clean environment. The professors there are not that bad, they take care of their students need. I really enjoyed myself there.
View moreThe Department of Statistics, University of Ibadan is the first ever Department of Statistics in Nigeria and one of the earliest in Africa. Their Masters degree programme has five units; Economic & Financial Statistics, Biometry, Environmental Statistics, Computational and Survey and Experimental Design.
The quality of teaching is very good but just a little gap compared to the teaching and research aids provided in Europe. Presently, there are over 5 Professors and 7 PhD lecturers at the Department.
Majority of academic members head some of well recognized statistical society in Nigeria (Professional Statisticians Society of Nigeria & Nigerian Statistical Association)
Admission rate for M.Sc and PhD programmes is about 70% and 50% respectively.
View moreI love the level of transparency in the school. There’s no nepotism. Everyone gets what they deserve. They could improve on accommodation though. Also, the lecturers are highly qualified and know how to impart knowledge.
