Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
I am currently doing a bachelor in global business at the Monterrey campus. I really like the installations, it has everything a student may need and its really big. The campus is full of International students, however, the majority of its students are Mexican. I really like the model they have implemented which is called “tec 21”, it consists of 3 periods of 5 weeks, with “Semana Tec” in between each period. With this model, we focus mainly on learning through application rather than exams, they give you real-life situations challenges in which you have to work closely with said situation, for instance, companies, and I find it really helpful as I feel that I can put my learnings into practice. The latin community is also very wholesome, they are very welcoming and happy. The only thing I don’t like is how long the classes are, I have had classes of 4 to 6 hours, and it becomes exhausting, there is a point in which your span of attention just fails, but teachers try to offer dynamic classes so you don’t get bored.
Other than that, my experience has been very positive.

You create relationships that last for years and do not separate despite the distance that each one’s paths take.
I loved the experience i lived in TEC – CCM and Santa Fe. Both campuses offer first world country sports and scholastic infrastructure. Library is very complete and confortable. Professors are the best, had no issues with the way they score the grades although i must say that the homework and study rhythm is very dynamic and there is a lot of pressure.
In regards of the programs, ITEMS has always evaluated and placed its programs under review, updating them and improving where there is opportunity.
What I liked the most about studying there was the quality education and the sense of belonging students can get. It’s a university that not only teaches students in a theoretical way but also in a practical way. Tec also provides the best infrastructure, many programs and opportunities to study or work abroad as it has partnerships with universities all over the world. In my personal experience, it helped me develop lots of skills through all the different student activities and opportunities that it offers. In all my years studying there, the only thing I didn’t like was the new system of teaching called Tec21.
