I have a well-rounded perspective on the institution, both in terms of its strengths and areas that could be improved.
What I Liked
One of the standout features of Kenyatta University is its well-structured academic programs and qualified lecturers who are committed to delivering quality education. The university has a beautiful and spacious campus, with modern facilities, including well-equipped libraries, computer labs, and research centers. Additionally, KU offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, from sports to student organizations, which allow students to engage in personal development beyond academics.
Another aspect I appreciated was the diversity of students and lecturers, which created a dynamic learning environment where different perspectives were encouraged. The university also has strong industry linkages, which offer students internship opportunities and networking possibilities.
What I Disliked
One of the major issues is bureaucracy in administrative services, which can sometimes make processes like registration, fee payments, and accessing certain services frustratingly slow. Additionally, overcrowding in some lecture halls can make learning less effective, especially in popular courses with large enrollments.
Another area of concern is the speed of response to student grievances. While the university administration does address issues, the process can sometimes take longer than expected.
Would I Recommend It?
Yes, I would definitely recommend Kenyatta University, especially for students looking for a well-rounded education with access to great resources and opportunities for personal growth. While there are areas that need improvement, the quality of education, diversity, and facilities make it one of Kenya’s top universities.
Opinion about Kenyatta University: I liked that Kenyatta University is a large institution offering diverse courses and ample resources for students. However, I found some aspects frustrating. The bureaucratic procedures for fee payments were cumbersome, leading to long lines near deadlines and extra charges before graduation under the pretext of fee arrears, despite consistently paying fees. Furthermore, the university’s handling of outgoing students before graduation caused unnecessary hurdles.
Would I recommend the university? Yes, for its good learning environment and track record of producing excellent students. However, I also have reservations due to the challenges mentioned above.
