Maynooth University was not where I was initially planning on going – but I ended up leaving another University and coming to Maynooth. As it wasn’t where I was planning on going, I was not sure what to expect.
I was very pleasantly surprised. The campus is lovely, although it isn’t huge, there are many beautiful spots including a more modern north campus, and a beautiful south campus surrounded by nature.
I think one thing that stands out for me are the professors and lecturers. Every single one I have had seems passionate about their work and more importantly, teaching does not appear to be a chore to them like you can sometimes see in other places. They are very friendly and happy to help, and some are incredibly fun and find creative ways to keep classes engaging (I had a professor who brought his guitar and sang songs about concepts).
In the university I previously attended, there were a lot of administrative issues and just poor organisation in general, which is not something I have ever experienced in Maynooth over my last 3 years here, which I am very thankful about.
