– Some lecturers are great and really helpful, others not so much and will make finishing you degree much harder then needed.
– timetable is split with large gaps and there is a lack of space for commuter students.
– lecturers will cancel classes at the last minute and you will have travelled in for nothing,
View moreMaynooth university is good for student life. The large campus , student bar and pubs beside it make the college feel alot different then other colleges in Ireland.
However lecturers are not the most supportive , they don’t want to be emailed and they just read PowerPoints. You are certainly just a number.
The timetables have huge gaps between classes. For example you can have one class at 11am and no class til 4pm. With very little seating space on campus to sit and wait in between.
I do feel like those living on campus are prioritised. Lecturers will cancel classes 20 minutes before they begin which means they waste a journey.
View moreI chose to study here because it was in close proximity to my home house and I couldn’t afford to live away for college. The University itself has some amazing courses and the standard of education Is very good. I didn’t feel like I got much of a University experience as I lived at home and found it very hard to make friends as there were 400 people in my course. Apart from my language classes I would never really talk to anyone in my business classes as they were too big. If you study business language you have to do an erasmus year abroad which was really amazing. I didn’t have the opportunity to do work placement with this degree which I didn’t like. I also found it extremely hard to get employment after.
