Galway is the kind of place where you walk through campus and see familiar faces every day, making it feel like a second home. The sense of community here is unlike any other university I’ve experienced. In my first year, when I struggled with a programming module, an older student from the CompSci Society offered to tutor me for free. The lecturers are approachable, too—one of my professors even stayed back after class for 30 minutes to help me understand a particularly tricky algorithm. The Student Union is also incredibly active, always organizing events like pub quizzes and charity fundraisers. The biggest downside? Accommodation. Finding affordable housing near campus is a nightmare, and most students end up sharing tiny rooms at steep prices. But if you can navigate that, Galway offers a warm, welcoming environment where you’ll truly feel at home.
