During my time in SETU Waterford, the exemplary staff and professors aimed to assist their students in any way they could. Often going out of their way to assist students who struggled to grasp concepts, as well as advising students who were struggling financially, or with mental health difficulties by referring them to the appropriate facilities for assistance.
Unfortunately, these facilities were often where the issues with SETU lay. With an almost incomprehensible website layout, it became extremely difficult to find these resources independently – forcing students to ask the often closed student union for assistance in locating the room, contact address, or directory you are searching for.
Recently, after suffering a cyber attack, these online directories were closed until further notice resulting in students waiting weeks for a response to simple questions which were unavailable in the scant FAQ section of the university website.
In summary, SETU is a friendly, kind, and inclusive university which aims to help their students as much as they can, however despite this aim, the resources provided by their website are either extremely difficult to access or non existent; resulting in an often stressful and distressing experience.
