My experience at State University of Malang was both enriching and transformative. The university provided a strong academic foundation, especially in my field of study, and the lecturers were not only knowledgeable but also supportive. I had the opportunity to join student organizations, which helped me build soft skills like leadership, communication, and teamwork.
Beyond academics, studying in Malang was a great experience—the city is student-friendly, affordable, and has a vibrant community. Overall, my time at UM helped shape me into a more disciplined, independent, and open-minded individual, and I’m truly grateful for the journey.
View moreI studied Economic Development at the State University of Malang from 2013 to 2017. My experience there was truly positive and enriching. The university community was very supportive—students could easily access important information and guidance throughout their academic journey.
One of the things I appreciated most was the approachable and inspiring faculty. The lecturers were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in helping students grow. Additionally, the campus environment itself was a big plus. Surrounded by tall trees and green spaces, the atmosphere made going to class feel refreshing and motivating.
Overall, I’m very grateful for my time at State University of Malang, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-rounded and supportive university experience.
View moreWith under bare minimum facilities, this university add students quota. The toilets very bad, dirty, and usually run out of water. Very lack of parking lot but still increase the new students quota. The inneficient canteen payment, should be twice made invoice from the stall to the cashier.
View moreThe green campus is very cool with many shady trees. I am very lucky to have studied at this campus, the fees are cheap, the teaching lecturers are qualified, supporting student achievements both academic and non-academic achievements. Many scholarships are offered. Food and boarding around the campus are cheap. A campus that produces competitive graduates
View moreI’m a class of 2010 student from the Physics Education. I lived in Malang from 2010 to 2014. Here I will share the pros and cons of studying at University of Malang. Everything is based on experience without any element of bringing down any party.
PLUS:
1. Daily living costs (one meal 5-10 thousand), boarding costs (per month 400 and above), are still AFFORDABLE.
2. Transportation costs are only 2500 if you take public transportation.
3. Clothing when studying tends to be free. I often find students who wear sweatshirts, t-shirts, and mountain sandals. I myself have also been like that, even though there are restrictions. NOT APPLICABLE for Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of
Mathematics and Science .
4. Free seminars are often held. You will also get free snacks too hehe the boarding house kids will definitely like it 🙂
Minus
1. If it’s a financial matter, you have to be prepared to be thrown to another party. Yes, one party was told to go to another party, then told to go somewhere else.
2. Not all faculties have a canteen. Even if there is, the place is very small. Faculties that have large canteens are FE, FMIPA and FIP (outside canteen).
3. Don’t believe the term “just wait”. NO. You should ask/follow up frequently. This is for all matters, whether academic or not.
