Diversity and inclusion is one of the most prominent issues in India. Diversity and inclusion continues to be widely discussed, it has also become an important issue in education, specifically higher education institutions. Golden and Matlock (2007), assert that diversity and inclusion efforts must be a priority to higher education leaders including the President, Chancellor, Executive Officers and Governing Board, and that these leaders must advocate for clear and consistent communication around diversity, with the entire campus community, especially students. It’s important to note applying the addition of different, rich cultures on into the curriculum on campus will further increase the understanding of each student’s unique qualities. Aside from bringing students from different racial and ethnic backgrounds together, campuses have a duty to provide stimulating courses covering historical, cultural, and social bases of diversity and community.
This is the beauty of NIU, a diverse university that welcomes student from across the globe that study and interact regardless of cultural and religious belief in a conducive environment.
