Professors are doing a great job. Professors Maria Lekakou, Helen Thanopoulou, Alexandros Glykas ensure that students graduating this department have good knowledge when it comes to shipping/ maritime. Students learn about different markets (bulks, tankers, containers), about ports, about the basic ship designs, chartering, and maritime law (of course finance, trade, maths etc).The dpt organizes conferences, guest lecturers from market leading companies, visits abroad.
I am proud to be an alumni and believe that it’s one of the best Universities to study maritime.
Also, the marine academy of based in Chios so even as students, people form a strong network.
If the courses were in English, that would strengthen the department’s image and attract international students too, and possibly funding.
