I like my university, because it offers one of the mostly-filled curricula in Greece for Electrical and Computer Engineering. More specifically, I recommend it if someone wants to study traditional Electrical Engineering, either in Electronics, Energy or Telecommunications. Furthermore, the facilities have been modernised in recent years, offering an improved academic experience, but the dorms are old.
View moreI would recommend it for undergraduate studies.
The programme is good and most professors are really good on their field (releasing papers and having PhD students).
An issue is that there are little to no job opportunities for work after the studies in Xanthi.
Another issue is that there are less opportunities for extra work around the subject of studies (student teams and workshops) compared to the universities on the big cities.
Overall the campus and the infastructures are in medium to good state
I love my university beacuse it has modern facilities and the program is full of excited courses. Moreover, the teachers are very kind and always will to help us which makes this university a perfect place to learn whatever you want
View moreI am currently in my 3rd year of studies and so far my studies in DUTH (faculty of EECE) according to my expectations. The majority of the subjects are regarding math, physics and engineering, which I find appealing but difficult. The professors have impressive CVs and some have written exceptional books and these factors contribute to a unique in-depth learning experience for me. The university has also invested a lot in the lab equipment and computer hardware and all the facilities are clean and tidy. Overall, this is a University with corporate connections all over the world that will be the key element in your CV. Hard work is essential!
View moreMy opinion of the University is a very positive one so far. The courses provided to me so far have been satisfactory and valuable for my future evolution into a fully-fledged Electrical and Computer Engineer. I liked the fact that I had the opportunity to explore both aspects of my studies, both electrical engineering and computer engineering. Also, the nourishment is adequate and the facilities are modern and of excellent quality.
View moreThe facilities are pretty good and all the laboratories are well-equipped. The proffesors are highly educated and some of them are the best of their kind. Overall the services provided to students are really helpful and they include free food, books and transportation to the university.
View moreThe ECE curriculum offers a wide range of topics that electrical and computer engineers can face. Students can select from various courses in microelectronics, automation, programming, power electronics, robotics, telecommunications etc. The level of the courses was most of the time more than I was initially expecting giving me a wide range of knowledge and skills.
The faculty’s facilities are new while the labs are getting equipped with state-of-the-art equipment most of the time. The courses give you hands-on experience via labs and workshops.
Student NGOs are highly present in the faculty by organizing seminars, workshops, competitions and other events connecting the students with their upcoming professional lives. Some NGOs are also offering soft skills sessions targetting on boosting the upcoming engineers’ skillset. I would definitely recommend joining one of them, like EESTEC since they are really active and friendly.
Accommodation is provided for free by the university after fulfilling the needed criteria while food is also provided for free on a daily basis.
View moreMost proffesors seem to possess their subject, are nice towards students and are available for extra work in case someone needs help. The facilities are clean, there are plenty of classes. Most courses are on point, interesting and provide useful informations. It’s a flaw that most of the facilities in Xanthi, were i study, are outside the city.
View moreI’m currently in my third semester. I don’t live inside the campus but have visited a lot of friends who do, and the accommodation is barely viable (small rooms, extremely bad insulation, old buildings), Most professors either do not care about teaching, or do care but don’t have the skills to transfer knowledge to the students. The amphitheaters and classrooms are okay (heating could be better and some are too small for everyone to fit). Online classes are generally okay, but the platform we currently use has technical limitations (Skype for Business). Textbooks are free (by the government), but generally arrive late and sometimes don’t reflect what is said in class. My general notion is that, although most topics and classes are interesting and will help me become a computer engineer, most of the time it’s not even worth attending class and the student has to do all the work on their own, without even the necessary sources.
View moreDue to the outbreak, all the lessons were transferred into the online environment. The same happened with the exams. We had the chance to participate in our exams last summer without staying behind the schedule.
This semester we tried hybrid lessons, respecting the number of people that should attend.
Our professors are open to questions and responses.
Room for improvement: better scheduling when it comes to labs.
Last but not least there are a lot of student organizations giving to students a wide range of possibilities when it comes to getting involved and improving.
