Course options are very customizable, but the school tackles a range of different specializations(eg informatics, robotics, energy, industrial electronics). As a result, the first years (before specialization choice) can be very overbearing. As with most Greek uni’s, extracurricular activities are limited, but since it’s one of the most renowned Greek uni’s it does receive some funding. Nevertheless the facilities are hit or miss, sometimes lacking. Profs are overall decent and cooperative(with exceptions of course), and the uni offers many opportunities to further your career, but as far as Greek ECE schools go, it’s considered a difficult one to finish. Campus life is limited (Athenian city planning contributes to that – the uni is quite far away from actual urban social spaces), but a few clubs exist (they may be hard to find however, you might have to ask around) and to my knowledge quite an active Erasmus program. Few classes are in English.
View moreNTUA offers an academically demanding environment that truly pushes students to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The workload is intense, but the depth of knowledge, the quality of instruction, and the prestige of the institution make the challenge worthwhile. A rigorous experience that rewards persistence and dedication.
View moreI studied at what is considered the top university in Greece, in Electrical and Computer Engineering department. The academic standard is undeniably high. My main issue, however, was with the program’s extreme difficulty. The workload was immense, and the exams were punishingly hard, creating a very stressful environment for students!
It would benefit from the program being more balanced and supportive, helping students grasp the bigger picture instead of getting lost in overly complex assignments. I’d recommend it, but only to those who are prepared for a relentless academic challenge.
I would certainly recommend my university because i regard it as one of the best in Greece in terms of facilities and the academic level of the personnel. It has a wide range of subjects that contribute to a deeper and overall understading of the concepts being taught. The only weakness is the connection with the market and companies.
View moreI am a student of Electrical and Computer Engineering School, of the National Technical University of Athens, in the 5th semester of my studies. This school was my first choice when I took the national exams, and now, after two years, I feel just as happy and proud as then, that I managed to succeed. It is considered one the most demanding and at the same time promising schools, and universities in general, here in Greece, and I have to admit that these allegations are confirmed on a daily basis. This is due to the fact that it has increased workload in multifaceted courses combined with mandatory laboratories. However, tasks and lecture attendance helps a lot in keeping in touch with the courses and organizing someone’s study. As far as the students are concerned, there are people of all kinds who are really friendly and easily accessible so as to expand your network. In fact, this compensates for the impersonal disposition of several teachers in the first years (due to a large number of students), favoring the cooperation with your fellow students, something that may have more value and motivates you more in the end (both in academical and personal life). If I had to say something negative, this would be on the one hand the facilities, as they are not so modern and hi-tech in a European academic way, and on the other hand the extensive presence of student political groups, which are quite fanatical without essential achievements (and that says someone who loves politics). In addition, if someone wants to give their studies their international touch, they have to deal with this mainly alone, because there are ways (Erasmus, competitions, etc.) but there are not so highlighted by the responsible. In general, students have sincerely unforgettable student years there, that follow them throughout their lives, giving them multiple professional and research perspectives (programming, computer architecture, telecommunications, networks, energy, electronics, administration elements, robotic, all in one master’s degree).
View moreNTUA offers various options of employability and gives us the opportunity to discover multiple fields, some of which are researched vastly in our labs. The campus is very beautiful, as it is surrounded by a small forest which makes it ideal for relaxing before and after the classes.
View moreFacilities need to be updated and well equipped. Some professors try to make the difference but there are others who don’t follow the technological updates. The overall experience was good but of course, there were a lot of points that disappointed me.
View moreNational Technical University is one of the most famous and prestigious universities in Greece. One could say that it deserves its title.
Most of the professors are dedicated to their classes and want to provide the best possible experiences to their students. They are trying to make their lectures interactive and they manage to provide different projects to make everything clear and maintain a strong connection between the students and the topics. At the same time, the level of the students is quite high which in general helps the professors to take their lectures to the next stage.
Other than that, the university is quite open to providing opportunities to students to make research in our labs, even from the first years of our studies, we have the chance to work closely with very insightful professors.
So, I can say with certainty that I am really satisfied with the academic part of my university.
Some suggestions for improvement I could see are the following:
– Some of the labs are missing needed equipment, or the equipment is quite old.
– The campus in general is not very well preserved.
– The connection with the market is not strong.
– We don’t have many opportunities for development apart from the academic part. (e.g Associations, Lectures, Workshops etc)
Lastly, despite the lack of resources, our university currently is one of the few in Greece that has managed to move every lecture and exam online. There were no delays and our schedule and program was continued like nothing has changed.
View moreIt is probably the best Greek University and the only one which provides technical knowledge combined with theory in such a productive way. At the same time being able to approach Business and management from a technical perspective, is the appropriate tool to get you ahead in things.
View moreThe knowledge that is offered is of a high level and there is a wide variety of options and different subjects. However, the way of knowledge transfer is totally outdated. The labs are inefficiently equipped and professors are not focused on providing a hands-on application on everything we learn. Although the theoretical background which is provided is high and a lot of attention is paid to the overall knowledge of some fields, the practical examples, exercises, simulations and experiments which help student deeply understand what they learn is of a low level. I would recommend my University to students because of its prestigious position in Greece but I would also suggest that a lot of things are to be improved and related to the needs of the modern era.
