The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) is the largest and sixth oldest university in Greece. The main campus is based in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, and provides an excellent learning environment. The campus spreads across 33.4 hectares. It is home to state-of-the-art facilities and modern technologies, but some educational and administrative facilities are located off campus for practical reasons. Some of those are even located in other cities. The university has 10 faculties and consists of 40 schools and one single-school faculty. Nowadays, approximately 74,000 students are enrolled in programmes at Aristotle University, 65,000 in undergraduate programmes, the rest in postgraduate programmes, including degree programmes at doctoral level. The faculty is made up of 2,024 faculty members, including 11 teaching assistants, 58 researchers, 248 members of the Special Laboratory Teaching Personnel (S.L.T.P), 15 foreign language teachers, as well as 4 foreign instructors. The administrative staff consists of 400 permanent employees and 528 employees (indefinite contractors). The school is named after the philosopher Aristotle, who was born not far from Thessaloniki. The majority of courses are taught in Greek, but there are programmes in foreign languages and courses for international students, those are taught in English, French, German, and Italian. The renowned university is constantly ranked among the most prestigious universities in Greece. It was ranked among the best universities in the world by Times Higher Education World University Ranking, and other Academic Rankings. In the Webometrics ranking, it ranked first in the category of web popularity in Greece. The university places special value on integration and extracurricular activities. It has a university student club that is based in a private building on the eastern side of the campus. The student club is home to a restaurant, a reading room, a medical service, a snack bar, and even hairdresser’s studio.
Based on the EDUopinions rankings, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki rating is 3.7. If you want to know more about this school, read the student reviews on our website.

It’s one of the best universities in Greece. The professors are great, an overall nice community and it can open many paths. However the equipment is outdated and the funding from the government is getting worse and worse.
View moreAristotle University of Thessaloniki is a great place to gain important scientific knowlegde and form everlasting connections that can help young adults grow and shape their presonalities in a unique and powerful way. I would certainly recommend Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
View moreAristotle University OF Thessaloniki or AUTH, is located at the center of the town. That makes it easily accessible for all students from multiple neighborhoods of Thessaloniki as most of the buses stop by the Campus area. AUTH and universities in Greece unfortunately have student political parties which are influenced by Greece’s political parties which leads to them impairing the working capacity of the university and most of the departments. For example, you would have students of various political parties occupying whole departments and prohibiting lectures, just so they can push their agendas.
View moreThe Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is one of the biggest universities in Greece, having the biggest campus (I believe) in the country and being located in one of the most active student cities. It is not without its drawbacks: The buildings are either ancient or underdeveloped, as is the studetn cafeteria and student housing. The classrooms, which sometimes are not big enough to house all the students, are falling apart (quite literally), and the lab equipment is of the previous century an alarming amount of times. The bachelor programs are criminally overlooked in comparison to the masters and few and rare are the professors who actually care to make their subject interesting. The general idea, unfortunately, is that all the information is there, somewhere, and the students are the ones who need to work their way through all the information and turn it into knowledge, with little to no guidance from anyone other than their fellow classmates. It’s not all doom and gloom though. The bright side: the level of education is truly impressive, with a great range of both bachelor and master degrees that hold great power on both a national and international level. The univeristy offers a lot of opportunities to its students (though as mentioned they need to look for them themselves), like student groups, European Exchange Programs, International Workshops and Competitions and many more, that students can use to develop their skills and gather experience. The few professors that care for their students and are active in the student communities truly do help them reach their highest potential. It is largly in part to those student communities that I consider this university to be good. The campus is also really close to the city centre and is relatively safe to walk through. All in all, in Greek standards AUTh is one of the greatest univesities, but it still has a long way to go before it can offer an exquisite, enviable academic experience, despite its efforts and potential.
View moreAristotle University provides a high quality level of education and opportunities to students. The teachers are very helpful, professional and friendly and always updated on new topics. Although, I believe that the logistical infrastructure and equipment are very poor. For example the classrooms are too small so they can’t handle the huge number of students.
