University of Mines and Technology, in my opinion, a great school , has its major focus on engineering and applied sciences like mining, mechanical and computer engineering. What i admire most about UMaT is its condusive environment, committed lecturers, fieldworks and lab sessions. UMaT, like any institution, faces its own challenges. The lecture halls and accomodation facilities need intense upgrade. Ultimately, I believe UMaT is an excellent school that provides quality education which prepares students to meet the demands of the modern world. I am proud to be a part of UMaT and i highly recommend.
View moreMy experience with this university’s mechanical engineering program has been phenomenal. What I liked most was the strong emphasis on project-based learning. We weren’t just lectured on theory; we were challenged to design project, where my team created autonomous robot, was an incredible opportunity to apply everything we learned about thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and material science. The faculty are not only experts in their fields but also passionate mentors who genuinely want to see students succeed.
The only real downside was the limited availability of elective courses in some specialized areas, like robotics or aerospace, which would have allowed for even deeper specialization.
However, the foundation knowledge and problem-solving skills the program provides
are unparalleled. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to be more than just a student-to anyone who wants to be a true innovator.
UMaT is a welcoming university nurturing young talented students into future vibrant careers and engineers. The atmosphere is very conducive for teaching and learning activities. The lecturers style of teaching is very unique
View moreUMaT is the best and only school I would recommend to anyone who would like to offer a course in Mining Engineering. It has experienced professionals from the various industries who are now working as lecturers. Moreover, there’s a difference between someone who has never been to the mining industry but teaching a course related to mining and someone who has hands-on practical experience from the industry teaching the same course.Guess what! The industry personnel explains everything in simple terms unlike the other person who would just be teaching you based on books.
Aside the studies, extracurricular activities like Sports, artiste night , SRC week , Inter- denominational bible quiz etc are organised by the school at appropriate intervals. Nevertheless, impactful seminars and conferences are also organised by the school where they invite other industry professionals to have a one – on – one interaction with the students about how life at the industry is and in addition provide some tips we would need as we are preparing to enter the industry.
Also we have organizations like Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AuSIMM), Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) , Youth Arise Organization (YAO), Girls in Science and Technology (GIST) etc where you get to network with other people, partake in Fieldtrips and many more.
View moreUniversity of Mines and Technology offers a strong academic experience with a well-structured curriculum that emphasizes practical application. The professors are dedicated and passionate, providing support and engagement throughout the learning process. Campus life is vibrant, with diverse student organizations and beautiful green spaces, although some events can feel cliquish for newcomers. Overall, the university fosters personal and professional growth, and students are encouraged to take advantage of resources and get involved early on to maximize their experience.
