The University of Ghana is a reputable institution known for:
– Strong faculty and diverse academic programs
– Research opportunities and global recognition
However, areas for improvement include infrastructure limitations, large class sizes, and limited housing options.
To address the University of Ghana’s challenges:
-Modernize classrooms, construct new facilities, and regular maintenance.
-Optimize resource allocation, integrate technology
-Expand on-campus housing, partner with private developers, and offer housing assistance services.
University of Ghana is no doubt a premium university. Great lecturers, great programs and great opportunities. What I disliked about attending university of Ghana is the chase for accommodation on campus. It is stressful and exhausting. You will end up not getting accommodation in the halls and you now have to search around the towns closer to the university to rent which is way expensive.
View moreI studied Biological Sciences at the University of Ghana and graduated with a BSc degree. My overall experience was a blend of academic challenge, personal growth, and cultural richness.
What I liked:
Strong academic foundation: The curriculum was broad and well-structured, covering key areas like microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, and physiology. It really helped me develop critical thinking and research skills.
Dedicated lecturers: Many of the lecturers were passionate about their fields and encouraged students to think independently. Office hours were also helpful for one-on-one guidance.
Campus environment: Legon campus is beautiful and serene, with great facilities like the Balme Library and various research labs.
Cultural exposure: The student body was diverse, and I appreciated events that promoted social and academic networking.
Areas for improvement:
Practical exposure: While theory was well taught, more consistent access to hands-on lab equipment and modern tools would have enhanced learning.
Administrative delays: Sometimes course registration and transcript processing took longer than expected, which could be frustrating.
Career guidance: More structured internship and job placement support during and after the program would be very helpful for students transitioning into the workforce.
Final thoughts:
The University of Ghana gave me a solid academic experience and the confidence to take on future challenges. Like any institution, it has areas it could improve, but I’m proud to be an alumna and would recommend it to others who are passionate about the sciences and open to growth.
The university is well structured to meet the needs of students and lecturers
They university trains our mindset to not just graduate and look for employment but to start our own business
I would definitely recommend my university to anyone who wants a growth mindset
It was perfect experience for me at the University of Ghana. Looking at the natural atmosphere of the campus and the nature of the students, things were perfect at the University of Ghana. The University has a lot of facilities that aid the students in terms of their academic life on campus. It also host a lot of sports activities with other Universities.
View moreStudent at the University of Ghana are over populated due to the high intake of students in recent academic years. Also I like the interaction between the peers on campus especially when it comes to the non academic activities. Moreover there are a lot of facilities that helps students to excel in their academic journey. Some students are very respectful, others too are not
View moreI love the environment and scope of teaching. The teachers are amazing and humble. The policies of the school are convenient and favorable. I dislike the inadequate facilities for studying because of the class size
View moreLife at the university of ghana truly was an experience, i really love the attitude of students in general and how beautiful the environment was. Unfortunately i never really took the time to fully embrace my university days. I was always too angry or depressed to met people and hang out. The only downside to the campus was in terms of renovations.
View moreOne of the top universities in the nation and all of Africa is the University of Ghana. There are several different programmes you can enrol in. I like that it provides a higher-quality education that is recognised both inside and outside of Africa. I object to the outdated facilities and unfavourable learning atmosphere, particularly the overcrowding in Science departments. It is a fantastic Place, though, and you would want to pursue your degree there.
View moreSurprisingly, this university is in the condition it is now. As one of Ghana’s leading universities, you would expect high-tech facilities. Well, many things are outdated. I need newer equipment for research and I can’t find any. It’s sad. But, I would say though, that I have met many amazing people here I will carry with me forever!
