

The University of Freiburg is known today as the fifth oldest university in Germany. Founded in 1457, as a public research university located in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Wurttemberg. It was named by political representative and media as one of the elite universities in Germany.
The university has three large campuses, the university center, the institutes quarter and the engineering campus. Today, there are about 25,000 students in the university and over 4,000 academic and administrative staff.
The University of Freiburg has more than 300 partner universities in prestigious institutions globally. In 2015-2016, there were more than 4,000 international students enrolled in the university from around 130 countries.

The university also provides housing in its numerous dormitories run by Studentenwerk, or other students may find private living arrangements.
Admission in the university depends on the faculty and program applied and strictly based on final grade in secondary school. The tuition is free, however, there is a charge of 210 euros yearly for undergraduate, doctoral programs and regardless of the citizenship of the students.
