My experience at Kühne Logistics University (KLU) has been really positive so far.
Even during my Welcome Week, I had the opportunity to meet faculty members, staff and professors including some people I had interacted with on LinkedIn before moving to Hamburg. The warmth and willingness to help genuinely stood out to me. Within my first month, I got the opportunity to work with a PhD student on a one-day project, then collaborate with the KLU Marketing team, and I’ll soon be taking part in the Autumn School on Humanitarian Logistics.
This is particularly meaningful to me because humanitarian and sustainable logistics were among the major reasons I chose KLU in the first place. Being able to explore these areas so early in my programme has made the experience even more rewarding.
Another major highlight has been the international environment. I came to KLU specifically wanting to meet people from different cultures, and the university genuinely excels at this. I’ve already met students from the US, Egypt, Australia, Italy, Spain and many other countries. Every interaction gives me a different perspective, and I’ve actually made it a personal habit to try to meet at least one new person on campus whenever I can. There is always something new to learn.
And it’s not just academics. From company visits and guest speakers to student-organised events, networking, volunteering and activities, there is always something happening. One of my recent highlights was Oscar Night, which was organised by students with support from the KLU team. It was honestly one of the most exciting nights I’ve had since coming to Hamburg and a great example of the kind of community students can create here.
If you’re someone who wants university to be more than attending lectures and exams, KLU gives you plenty of opportunities to get involved, meet people, explore your interests and build experiences beyond your degree. I’m genuinely happy with the decision to come to KLU.
