My university is among the best in Germany; it ranks highly among German universities, has a lot of new research projects underway, and its professors are very innovative and creative in their classes and experiments. Campus life is very easy and affordable, and tuition is very low about 300 euros per semester.

First of all I want to say that I am glad that I got accepted to IBE Program at the university. It offers very high-quality courses with high-quality materials. However if I want to complain there are some stuff that I didn’t like about the university. I didn’t like the communication courses part of my program, where I need to fight for a place so that I can finish these mandatory courses for my masters program. I don’t like like how we don’t have summer or winter break, because you could have exams all over the months for example you could have an exam in August and an exam in September then you cannot plan for any trip, since October is the new start of the semester. The program is heavy and international students need to work to finance their stay and some university members do not understand that, and they think that we do not take our studies seriously. There is a huge space between the German community and the international community and integration could be very hard if you don’t have friends or people that could help you with that.

TU Ilmenau offers a strong academic environment for research-oriented students. I started the Research in Computer and Systems Engineering program in the Summer 2025 intake, and my experience so far has been rewarding. The curriculum is well-structured, focusing on both theoretical depth and practical research exposure.

One of the highlights is the close interaction with professors and research groups, which allows students to get involved in real projects early on. The faculty is approachable and supportive, especially when it comes to guiding thesis work or research proposals. The university facilities, including labs and libraries, are well-maintained and provide a good environment for focused study.

While the campus life is relatively calm compared to larger cities, it is ideal for students who are serious about academics and research. There are also opportunities for collaboration and networking through workshops and conferences.

Overall, I would recommend this university and program to anyone looking for a solid foundation in research and advanced systems engineering. It’s a great place to grow academically and prepare for a PhD or research-driven industry role.
