The most remarkable aspect about this degree is that it emphasises the practical knowledge. Courses are often taught in studios, as a form of workshops. Additionally, students are assessed based on their portfolios of work, which may be exhibited to the public.

View moreParticipating in the ECIU micro-module “SE-CHOC: Transform a Conventional 3D Printer into a Functional Chocolate Printer” at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) was a unique and enjoyable learning experience. Although it was only a 1 ECTS course, it offered a great balance of creativity, engineering, and hands-on problem-solving.
The hybrid format made it convenient to participate while still allowing meaningful interaction with instructors and fellow students from different universities. I especially enjoyed learning how a conventional 3D printer could be modified to work with chocolate, combining concepts from mechanical design, electronics, and food technology in an innovative way.
The instructors were supportive and encouraged collaboration throughout the course. Working on practical tasks and exchanging ideas with an international group of students made the experience even more engaging. Despite the short duration, the module was well-organized and provided valuable insights into rapid prototyping and interdisciplinary innovation.
Overall, I would highly recommend this micro-module to students who enjoy engineering, creative design, and exploring unconventional applications of technology. It was a rewarding experience that showed how innovation can emerge from combining different fields in unexpected ways.
