The EPF is a great general school that allows you to have an overall view of different sectors.
There are a lot of different associations that will help you to find the right one and easily participate in the life of the campus.
During the 5 years, there are many ways to learn and progress. Group projects, individual work or practical work will help you to finally find what you want to do and find your specialisation in the 4th year.
EPF is a nice school in Sceaux. I chose this one because it’s generalist so it allowed me to see the many different sides of engineering.
There is a lot of student associations, that permits you to meet new people and make what you like.
You can easily go to Sceaux thanks to public transport with RER.
Professors are mostly experienced engineers but it has its drawbacks because sometimes they have the knowledge but they struggle making it easy to understand for the students.
The EPF is the perfect engineering school to find your “engineer way” due to their 3 general education years. You’ll be able to discover many courses and get interested in some that you’d never thought you will. At the end of those 3 years you’ll specialize in the major you prefer the most during the other 2 years. The only inconvenient is that during these last years the courses lose in quality and content because they are new majors and the still have to find perfection, which will be soon.
The teaching philosophy at EPF is very open-minded and motivating.
In 5 years it gives you time to find yourself a vocation through the diversity of interesting subjects (Energy & Environment, IT, Aeronautics & Space, Healthcare, Management) and student activity (parties, associations and great people).
The EPF is an engineering school that provides you a general approach of the engineering area. At first, you start with 3 years of general engineering where you can fully immerse yourself and sharp your mind, thank to various projects around the engineer in the future society. Over those 3 years, you will spend 2 years learning a specific topic, like I did when I choose aeronautics and space. Of course, there is other topics such as biomedical, structure, building/architecture, computer science… Futhermore the EPF, is one of the first to try the balance the gender proportion by trying to inspire young girls to work as an engineer.
EPF Graduate School of Engineering is a good engineering French school that provides a general training for an engineer.
It is a 5-year school: 3 of a general engineering bachelor and 2 for a specialization between the following topics: aerospace engineering, IT, energy, management, civil & mechanical engineering and e-health services.
The school programme includes 2 main internships of one semester each in the industrial sector, business companies or even a research department in a laboratory. At least one of those 2 internships needs to be performed in a foreign country whether in Europe or wherever all around the globe.
EPF is full of students clubs such as sports club, music, aviation, robots, photography and many more! These clubs lead to create a connection between students that share the same hobbies and allow them to spend time on a group project together and even sometimes related to professional sectors.
A drawback that I could give is that the infrastructure is quite small and old and needs some changes. This is the reason why EPF will move to a different place, still in the Parisian suburb, in the following of 2019. Its new building would definitely give more force to the school regarding the national point of view but also the international one.
The EPF is a small engineering school, but regularly rises in the rankings over the years.
The campus Sceaux is located in the suburbs of Paris in a very pleasant area and well served by public transport.
It is easy to stay at the inhabitant, in residence or in an apartment.
There are not a lot of high but a large number of associations makes student life very friendly. Community life is encouraged by the administration to allow high school students to develop extra-curricular skills.
The wide choice of major allows everyone to find his way.
A large number of teachers come from the world of work, which makes the courses very interesting.
Practical work and group projects are an essential part of the teaching of an EPF engineer.
Points to improve: The premises are starting to be a little old, the school is not open 24 hours a day and the bookseller is little stocked.
In summary, I love this school because even if it is not very big and not very known, we have quality teachers and we can develop additional skills through associations that will be useful later in the world of work .
