Tampere University of Applied Sciences - TAMK (reviews)

TAMK isn’t very well funded it seems and could use some new labs (more lab time also) and the teachers are obviously a bit overworked. However — the school created a sense of community and unity that makes me feel at home. I’ve always gotten help when I needed it. So basically — they don’t have everything but they make the absolute most that they can with what they have. Also – Hilda Szabo is an angel. She cared for our class from the start of COVID up to our graduation. Johannes Jermakka is so smart, we don’t deserve him. Pauliina Mansikkamäki is the new head of the ENVE program and she’s also going to be the death of it. It was fun while it lasted for us though!

I think TAMK has a lot to offer, but unfortunately TUNI has ruined it. Money must be saved everywhere, regardless of whether or not it is a smart choice or not. Teachers are overworked and burned out. The fields seem to have a lot of repetition and poor planning. It’s a shame, since it has a lot of potential.

TAMK is a university which may offer good opportunities but lacks a lot. Our bachelor program was full of repetitive and seemingly useless courses and professors which did not seem to have a good organisation in course structure. This was somewhat redeemed by some very good professors however the overall experience left everyone feeling like they lacked something and with the impressions of have large gaps in their learning. The overall experience was definitely affected by COVID-19 which had a large impact however even with these circumstances it feels like a lot more could have been done. However it has to be said it is free for European students which is a big plus.

A lot of fluff courses which pad out the degree but you don’t learn a lot from. They are mixed in with some good courses. Head of degree is stepping down at the end of the academic year and the replacement is not as good.
