TMU is the gold standard of journalism schools in Canada. Whether you’re interested in traditional streams such as newspaper, TV, or radio, or favour more contemporary options such as online journalism, there are many programs that you’ll enjoy. When I attended more than 20 years ago, students got to experience each of these areas in their first two years, and then chose a focused stream for years three and four. Overall, the J-school professors were excellent and did a great job of preparing students for the real world of journalism. Living in downtown Toronto is also a thrill, and while it can initially be quite a change if you’re not used to big Canadian cities, you’ll get the hang of it. TMU’s campus is about as downtown as it gets, so you’ll have no shortage of things to see and do within walking distance.
