From my experience, the professors were very helpful when explaining assessments and exams to the first year students. It had definitely made me feel more reassured to what kind of task the professors had wanted. The peer study sessions was very accessible for me. I am very astound of this university for creating these opportunities for students.
View moreI really liked studying in the Psychology program, especially since I was looking into getting into Experimental Psych. The university offers all kinds of opportunities for research, including scholarships and within specializations. Students are able to obtain multiple scholarships and work in the same lab to really deepen their understanding of a topic or try out various research topics with different professors through programs like UROP, the Honors’ thesis, volunteering, research assistant positions and work-study positions. I was also able to travel and work in a lab aboard, fully-funded by uOttawa! I would say the only thing I wish we had was a CO-OP program for psychology students. Multiple other programs offer that option which really helps with career prospects and trying out a career in your field early-on (during your 2nd year of university). Apart from research or teaching, there aren’t multiple paid opportunities which allow you to learn the applications of the field.
View moreMy experience studying at uOttawa, moving from Montreal is something I would want from having my own experience, and life in Ottawa. The professors I have were fifty-fifty some are good and some are bad depending on which courses you take. What I really like the most about uOttawa is simple making new friends. It is easier to make new friends if you live in a residence, do classes in-person, study groups, etc. Would I recommend to my friends to study in uOttawa? It depends overall the views in Ottawa were amazing walking, having fun going out, if you want to have your own experience, studying and not living far away that’s the place you can go and attend to uOttawa.
View moreI have greatly enjoyed my time thus far at the University of Ottawa. I really appreciate all the accommodations the school has to offer for students such as the Academic Writing Help Centre and the Learning and Technology Mentoring Centre to name a couple. These types of accommodations aid students to achieve great academic success and developing learning strategies. In addition, I am fond of the activities and events the University of Ottawa organize including workshops and virtual field trips. Moreover, I also, really like the overall campus and enjoy attending the classes I have in person this semester. As well as enjoying finding areas to study some of my favourites this far has been the Social Science building and Learning Crossroads. Finally, I have very much appreciated the housing life on campus as I am currently living in a first-year student residence. I am keen on the social aspect and all the people and friends I have met in residence as well, as all the activities residence offers and the independence of living on my own while completing my studies has positively impacted me.
View moreThe program held a great emphasis on the inherent link between health promotion, public health, mental health, and population wellness. I highly enjoyed the program, however, I would have preferred if a co-op was facilitated in this program stream.
