I really liked studying in the Psychology program, especially since I was looking into getting into Experimental Psych. The university offers all kinds of opportunities for research, including scholarships and within specializations. Students are able to obtain multiple scholarships and work in the same lab to really deepen their understanding of a topic or try out various research topics with different professors through programs like UROP, the Honors’ thesis, volunteering, research assistant positions and work-study positions. I was also able to travel and work in a lab aboard, fully-funded by uOttawa! I would say the only thing I wish we had was a CO-OP program for psychology students. Multiple other programs offer that option which really helps with career prospects and trying out a career in your field early-on (during your 2nd year of university). Apart from research or teaching, there aren’t multiple paid opportunities which allow you to learn the applications of the field.
