Dalhousie primarily attracted me for its strong Marine Biology program, however throughout my first semester I realized that it was not something I wanted to pursue as a career. I ended up taking some art classes in my second semester and eventually switching my major to Journalism and Sustainability. As someone who didn’t know fully what they wanted to study, I appreciated the variety of options at Dal and the ease with which I was able to switch between programs. It’s a pretty big school and no matter what you study here, the professors are all extremely qualified and knowledgeable in their respective disciplines. The academic advisors are also super helpful in guiding students through course selection and program requirements which can get confusing.
