

I graduated from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) in 2022 with a degree in Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME). Overall, my experience was a mix of both rewarding and challenging moments.
On the positive side, CUET provided a strong academic foundation, especially in core engineering concepts. The PME department offered a specialized curriculum that gave me a clear understanding of petroleum and mining-related subjects. Some of the faculty members were highly knowledgeable and supportive, always willing to guide students beyond the classroom. The campus environment was also quite focused and disciplined, which helped me stay committed to my studies.
However, there were certain limitations as well. The availability of modern lab equipment and practical exposure could have been better, especially considering the technical nature of the PME field. Industry connections and internship opportunities were somewhat limited, which made it harder to gain real-world experience during the academic period. Additionally, like many public universities, there were occasional session delays and administrative inefficiencies.
Despite these drawbacks, my time at CUET helped me grow both academically and personally. It taught me resilience, problem-solving, and how to adapt in less-than-ideal situations. In the end, CUET PME provided me with a solid platform, but much of the development depended on personal effort and self-learning.

View moreWhile I am grateful for the opportunity to study at CUET, I feel that the syllabus could be updated to better align with current industry trends and modern developments in the field. Much of the content feels outdated and lacks practical or innovative components.
Additionally, the teaching approach in some courses is heavily lecture-based and does not always encourage critical thinking, creativity, or open discussion. I believe students would benefit from more interactive classes, practical projects, and a more open-minded approach toward new ideas and innovation.
