I was enrolled in the year that the University of Melbourne first introduced a new academic model, where every student was required to complete credits from breadth subjects (courses from other faculties) to graduate. I chose Japanese as my breadth subjects; however, these courses only provided entry-level knowledge. It would have been beneficial if students had the option to enroll in more advanced subjects that better complemented and reflected their degree.
