Overall, I find the Master of IT programme at UNSW to be a highly enriching and challenging experience. The programme offers a vast amount of knowledge, with courses that provide valuable insights into the field of IT. Almost all of the courses are assessed through a combination of online quizzes, assignments, projects, and a final in-person exam. This blended assessment model is particularly effective because it allows us to leverage powerful tools like AI for online tasks, while also testing our ability to independently solve problems during the final exam.
I believe this assessment format strikes a perfect balance—encouraging us to stay updated with technological advancements, such as AI, while ensuring we master the core technical skills required in the field. This is a great way to equip students with both modern tools and the fundamental capabilities to solve real-world problems.
However, I must admit that, as someone coming from a non-IT background, the volume of content and the demanding assessment structure can be overwhelming at times. The workload is substantial, which can be challenging, but it also pushes me to learn and grow significantly.
In summary, while the programme is a bit daunting due to its rigor, it offers a comprehensive and rewarding educational experience. It’s a mix of excitement and stress, but ultimately, I believe it provides a great foundation for anyone aspiring to excel in the IT field.
