This uni offered great incentives for the mature student, working full time from interstate with no exams.
However, they were obviously not transparent with the “cons” of being a student:
1. Inability to enrol yourself even after countless requests.
2. Complete radio silence from student advisors for months. Even after complaining to the Uni, of which the emails have also been ignored.
3. No real assistance from lecturers (“you’re an adult, figure it out” mentality). No guidance on mentoring or support.
4. If you need an extension, you essentially have to be dying or have someone die, and have proof.
5. Don’t even get me started on the usability of their website. I find myself being sent in loops.
6. There’s no guidance on textbooks required for upcoming courses until the course has actually started. Sometimes you are a few weeks in, when you receive your textbook.
7. The amount of study hours required, is not truly understood or communicated. I would allow 20 hours a week for 1 course and this was not nearly enough. This is rarely manageable with a full time job (even worse if you have children).
The lack of exams is a plus, I wish I knew the rest before handing over $35k
