The Best Cities for Student Life in Europe 2025

Well, Newcastle has a reputation for having great nightlife. There are some great nightspots where people can relax and unwind. The people here certainly know how to party, and some of the events are really wild, with the best spots being the nightclub Dance City and his spot, a student-only hangout that serves ethnic food for a small fee. , Munchers. The university itself has a great bar that hosts various events throughout the calendar. This is Newcastle as students saw it in their first two months or so.

Classes in both language and content modules are informative and enjoyable, covering a wide variety of topics (additionally, a lot of flexibility/variety is offered with regard to choice of content modules), most of which are taught by engaging lecturers, although there are (as may be inevitable) a couple of weaker modules. Student life also features a wide variety of activities and societies to suit almost any interest, and the university is located ideally for very easy access to the city centre between and after classes, with good transport links to most of the surrounding region. Though I haven’t personally made much use of them yet, a great deal of employability resources also seem to be available, and there are multiple libraries available for students to use (including study spaces that can be booked out easily), some specialising in specific subject areas.
On a more personal note, I’ve met some, if not all, of my best friends here through my course, and am looking forward to returning to Newcastle once my Year Abroad is complete; the city has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and leisure venues/activities all within easy reach, and genuinely felt like a second home to me.

Newcastle is a true university city. There are many discos, clubs and cafes to meet and have fun. If you want to work in a university environment, you have to go to Union. It’s like a college club, where you can find nightlife and groups that organize activities and excursions.

The University of Liverpool has been an incredible experience for me. The faculty’s dedication to student success and the cutting-edge research opportunities have significantly enriched my learning. Living in Liverpool city has been equally amazing, with its rich cultural heritage, lively music scene, and friendly locals adding to the overall experience. It’s a place where personal and professional growth truly flourishes, surrounded by the energy and charm of a fantastic city.

As a student, I hold a very high opinion of the University of Liverpool, due to its wide ranging course options and facilities available to students, including sports groups as well as excellent student accommodation. They also provide 24/7 support to their students in terms of welfare and support with work. In terms of personal likes for the University of Liverpool I would mention its staff, throughout my time at this university I have felt supported every step of the way, from lecturers and tutors providing assistance with work to staff to university staff ensuring the welfare of students, not only with work but also in personal life. I believe the facilities at the University are also brilliant, including the sports aspect as well as libraries and lecture theatres. In terms of dislikes for this university, one of my suggestions would be the better arrangement of assignments as they often overlap one another making the workload heavy. Another issue that has arisen this year is the Industrial Strikes that the lecturers are currently partaking in, resulting in confusion with the turning in of assignments and the returning of grades. However, overall, I would highly recommend this University, the pros wholeheartedly outweigh the cons and I would suggest anyone apply at the University of Liverpool looking for a high-energy, good night-life, city University.

Great university with always available tutors and a superb all-around degree with a wide range of topics to learn. Because of the proximity, there is a vibrant student nightlife. Fully in-person lessons, which I believe are essential, as well as realistic course hours and lecturer contact hours, provide an excellent work/life balance. In university, in my halls of residence, and throughout the city, the atmosphere was warm and friendly from the moment I arrived!

UBI is a university with a lot of history. It´s located in Covilhã, near Serra da Estrela, which is where the highest altitudes in mainland Portugal are located. Covilhã it’s a beautiful city in the center of Portugal and it’s relatively small which is good because you can go everywhere on foot. On the other hand, as Covilhã is near the mountains, its streets are pretty steep. You’re going to be constantly climbing or descending every street, so cardio won’t be what you’re going to need to do in your free time, that’s for sure.
I’m studying aeronautical engineering and overall I’m liking it, we have a hangar and some laboratories, and also have subjects related to propulsion, structures, systems, aerodynamics and so on.
The people are very friendly and that is what I like the most.
If you want a good balance between studying and social life this university is good for you!

I think the university still relies on the historical side that the course has because it is the oldest Aeronautical Engineering course in Portugal. Besides that, it has too much theory, and this is not very related to the professors but the fact that the department doesn’t have the money to invest in facilities that would allow its students to conduct practical studies.
Covilhã as a student city is great, a small town with cheap housing and supermarkets. The academic life is great because it has a lot of bars and disco that allows any student to find joy in anything. in terms of Natural beauty the city is on the slope of the tallest mountain in Portugal giving very nice views and nature-related activities.
As I have said, the course could be better and if you are looking for the best course in Portugal this isn’t the city for you but if you are looking for a chill, nice and cosy town come to Covilhã and the city will receive you with its arms wide open.:)

I would highlight the city’s culture, atmosphere, and price. The town is small and everyone lives at a maximum of 15 minutes walk, it’s very cozy. It’s a very cheap city. The only thing is the education quality. As expected from a small-town university, the education quality can be pretty underwhelming.

I love my university! The people are all friendly and fun to be around, people actually want to study theirs subjects. The lecturers are willing to answer your emails and talk at any point and always give a helping hand when possible. I have a good range of optional modules on my course to choose what I want to specialise in. There is a huge range of halls, varying in condition and age and price, so everyone could find something for them, and guaranteed student accommodation to first years and international students is hugely reassuring! There are 3 bars/clubs on campus, a letting agents, a box office, cinema and theatre, and a giant library that has lots of individual cubicles for you to do work in. There is also a range of sporting facilities including gyms, which are also in some accommodation complexes, and a swimming pool. I really love the uni and the vibe it gives off.

I like the University of Southampton very much. Firstly, the University of Southampton is located in the south of England, the climate is not as cold as that of Scotland. Secondly, Southampton is near the sea and the scenery is very beautiful. Secondly, the pace of life in Southampton is not fast and there are not many courses, so we will have plenty of spare time to explore our hobbies. Finally, the teachers in the school are very friendly.

UoSM campus although small, is brand new and well- equipped. Being located in eco botanic students here has access to many restaurants, groceries, and living spaces with some free amenities. Teachers here are helpful and kind; they are ready to help anytime. The university also offers a range of clubs to join; Religious, cultural, sports and leisure clubs.

Rennes School of Business is a great option for students looking for a balanced lifestyle. The school is located in a relaxed, student-friendly city, which means you can enjoy a range of social and educational activities. The international student community is strong, and there are plenty of things to do if you explore the city. While English is spoken in the school, it’s important to learn French to make the most of your time in France. The programs offered by Rennes are relevant and of high quality, and the teachers are knowledgeable and supportive.

From the moment I set foot on the campus of Rennes, I knew it was a special place. The classes are engaging and enlightening, the professors are passionate and knowledgeable, and the campus is buzzing with energy. I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth and more, and that I’m surrounded by people who share my passion for learning. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, and I feel free to be myself and express my ideas without fear of judgment. And I feel safe and secure on campus, knowing that the school takes its responsibility to provide a safe environment for students

Studying at Aberdeen University, I have often been impressed with the range of courses, societies, and communities present here that help a great deal in finding the path you want to take in life.
This is on top of high quality facilities that are well maintained and well equipped, and teaching that is always professional and rewards effort in learning.
The surrounding city is also very comfortable, having plenty of entertainment venues, relatively affordable accommodation options, and scoring a purple flag(outstanding) for safety.

While I would prefer if societies had a closer relationship to the university and that teachers were more enthusiastic, I would still highly recommend this university due to it’s quality of life and it’s facilities.

During my three and a half years studying history at The University of Aberdeen, I have gradually come to feel at home in a place that was at first, nothing short of alien. The university has a beautiful, old campus, full of history- which could only inspire my study of the topic. While the accents are strong, the people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet and it is safe to say you will never feel lonely. It is a beautiful place to be a student and it has been a great experience for me.

I loved studying at university of Aberdeen. The academic standards are high, but the professors and examinations are fair. I’ve had more than enough time between classes to have fun with colleagues and travel around the town. The university is very supportive, and I got all the help I needed as an international student.

While living on-campus was fun, I feel the construction/renovation works should’ve been finished during the summer break. The noise was a bit too much at times. Overall, I recommend studying at university Aberdeen.

Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland is a fantastic institution that I highly recommend for future students. The University of Glasgow provides a high-quality international education. There are classes offered on a variety of topics, even those you have never thought of! The professors are diverse and have strong academic backgrounds. They are eager to help and will push you to think critically. Glasgow city offers a great balance of social activities but it is still intimate and comfortable. The university is well-located and plays a big part of Glasgow life. You will find countless study spaces at UofG, including the new Learning Hub. Students are all welcoming and friendly. I felt at home from the first week as there are many orientation activities to meet other people. My experience at UofG has been great. Studying here has definitely helped my careers prospects.

tbh, I love Glasgow more than my university. Glasgow is the first city I would like to live here permanently. People living here are kind and welcoming, but there are shortages in this city. Weather and job opportunities. As for my uni, there are tooooo many Chinese in my every classes. It makes me feel I am in a China uni, like I am not on abroad.

The University of Leeds has been my home away from home. In an academic sense, they offer a very diverse set of courses, and a personal tutor to keep in contact with. The University also provides you with the opportunity to sign up to societies, whether that’s subject based, sports related or anything else. The city itself has lots to do, Leeds has a great nightlife, with student nights being held every day of the week.

I really enjoyed my three years at the University of Leeds. Not only is it a great city, but the campus and university itself are of a high standard. The campus is easy to get around and the university association hosts many events, gigs and nights – definitely a hotspot for students! The union also offers countless clubs for everyone to join . All of these are on display at the Freshers’ Fair earlier this year, so you can meet other students and committee members. I completed my law degree while studying at a university in the new part of campus. The school offered many events to meet other students, career events and even an entire lawyer fair.I highly rate the university and would recommend it to anyone.

The University of Leeds is amazing, from the amazing staff to the amazing facilities, spaces and people on campus. The campuses are great, everything you need is close by and just a few minutes walk from each other. This course wasn’t what I expected as it didn’t really focus on what I personally wanted to do, but I understand the course is needed and can be improved.Student Union is great, lots of good shops and nightlife. My experience so far has been great. I am looking forward to another year away from home.

My stay at Clermont School of Business was very positive. There is a great atmosphere all around. Both french and international students are very welcoming and all the teachers, apart from being great professional, they are great people too. What I learned the most from my program was critical thinking and applied cases. More than learning the theory, we learn, when, how to apply it and analyze cases where it has been applied. Clermont is a great city, small, and cozy with a great student ambiance. Clermont School of Business values its students and makes sure they have every tool to succeed.

This university has great options for its students to do when they are not attending courses. There is all kind of student groups from sports to cuisine and more. What I like about these groups is that they are constantly inviting the whole ESC community to join different activities and have fun. Therefore, I strongly recommend to be part of these groups or simply just attending their events.

My experience at Clermont School of Business was exceptional. The classes were not only educational but also enjoyable, providing a solid foundation for my career. Weekly activities, such as raclette gatherings and bar parties, were an excellent way to immerse myself in the local culture and meet incredible people. I would particularly highlight the positive impact of the inclusion weekend, which significantly enhanced my connection with the university. Overall, Clermont offers a unique and enriching experience both academically and socially.

As a student at the University of Salamanca, I have found my experience to be truly enriching. In terms of campus facilities, the university boasts an exceptional study library, striking gothic-style architecture, and picturesque landscapes. Students benefit from a wide range of resources at the institution, including the chance to connect with alumni, especially those with expertise in their chosen fields. The faculty members are distinguished professionals with extensive backgrounds in the hospitality industry.

Being old is not something valorated nowadays in our society. However, the oldest Spanish university, the university of Salamanca (USAL), can show you that experience is something valuable and it goes together with the quality.
It has a medium size with 9 teaching campuses, located in different cities. The strongest point is the faculty of Humanities, with very a huge list of courses.
At this university study people from all around the world, you can discover new cultures, there are thematic cultural weeks (mmm…I still remember amazing sushi made by some Japanese girls), many conferences about all kinds of topics and very active students´ night life 🙂
I highly recommend it, the quality of studies and teachers´knowledge is awesome, and you will never be bored in this city full of life.
