04/08/2025
5-second summary
  • University of Warsaw is currently the best-rated university in Europe with a score of 4.70/5.
  • EDUopinions ranks institutions based on student reviews posted between January and July 2025.
  • All universities in the top 10 received an average overall rating of more than 4 out of 5.
  • IÉSEG School of Management is highly rated for its facilities and internationality, scoring 4.67/5.

We’re halfway through 2025, and at EDUopinions, this means we’re starting to think about the 2026 edition of the Student Reviews Guide. Which universities will appear on our rankings? Will there be some surprises? In anticipation of this year’s official rankings, which will be released in January 2026, we’re asking: what are the best-rated universities in Europe in 2025 so far?

On EDUopinions, all student reviewers give their university an overall rating based on their experience of both their course and the overall university atmosphere. Students can also provide additional ratings for aspects like facilities, student life, and professors, but it’s their overall rating that best summarises their feelings towards their university.

The following ranking shows which universities are receiving high scores from their students so far this year. It’s too early to say if these universities will be on our final ranking of the best-rated universities in 2025, but they’re certainly ones to watch.

Best-Rated Universities in Europe 2025

Summary and Methodology

To compile this ranking, we analysed ratings from student reviews for European institutions posted between 1st January 2025 and 21st July 2025. We only considered universities with at least 20 reviews posted during this period.

Our final ranking of the best-rated universities in Europe in 2025 includes institutions from all across the region, from France to Portugal, Poland to Denmark. While some countries have multiple universities in the ranking, no one country dominates. All the universities in this top 10 received an average overall rating of more than 4 out of 5, an excellent score.

According to students, one of the best-rated universities in 2025 so far is the University of Warsaw, which has an excellent score of 4.7/5. However, it’s very close between our top-three universities – the second best-rated has an overall score of 4.67/5. Read on to find out who made the ranking!

10. University of Galway (4.17 Rating)

Located on Ireland’s west coast, the University of Galway (formerly NUI Galway) offers a tranquil campus and research-intensive academic environment. The blend of cultural activities in Galway (the city is known for festivals, music and the arts) and a welcoming campus environment means that, in addition to a high overall rating, the University of Galway ranks second in this top ten for student life, scoring 4.38/5. Other factors that students highlight in their scores are the quality of professors and the location, which makes sense, given its proximity to the wild region of Connemara and the Atlantic coast.

Engineering Innovation and Hands-On Learning

My experience as an engineering student at the University of Galway has been both challenging and rewarding. The program emphasizes practical learning, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on exciting projects, such as designing a sustainable energy system for a local community. This hands-on approach has deepened my understanding of engineering principles and their real-world applications. My ambition is to become a renewable energy engineer, and the resources and mentorship available here are helping me move closer to that goal. One challenge has been managing the demanding coursework, especially during exam season, but the supportive faculty and study groups have made it manageable. I expected a strong academic environment, but the reality has been even better—Galway’s vibrant campus life and the sense of community among engineering students have made my journey unforgettable.

9. Università di Pisa (4.18 Rating)

Founded in 1343, Università di Pisa is one of Italy’s oldest institutions and has consequently been a breeding ground for scientific and cultural breakthroughs (Galileo once taught here). The university may be let down by lower ratings for facilities and accommodation (which is common for universities in mainland Europe), but it does score highly for professors and value for money. Indeed, Italy is one of the most affordable study destinations in Europe, where you can get a degree from a historic, top-ranked university like the Università di Pisa for much less than in the UK or the US.

In addition, it’s located in one of the beautiful and old city I been to.

The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is a powerhouse of Nordic academia – the Times Higher Education World University Rankings name it the best university in Denmark, and it appears in the top 100 globally. UNYP Review

This university offers an abundance of academic as well as social experiences, whether they are directly tied to the school (club events, guest lectures, organized sport events) or stemming from the community (after-school hangouts, café study-sessions, exploring with friends). Great opportunity to make friends for life while engaging in a wide variety of classes – I especially enjoyed the classes offered in the IR course!

Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

I studied English Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University and was mostly happy with the academic side of things. The professors are highly knowledgeable, especially in literature and linguistics, and they take their subjects seriously. Most lectures are well-organized, and some seminars offer a chance to dig deeper into your interests.

The campus in Poznań is beautiful and close to the city center, which makes it easy to feel part of student life. However, while there are international students, the university could do more to support them—some administrative processes are still only in Polish, which can be frustrating.

Overall, I’d recommend it if you’re focused on strong academic content and don’t mind figuring things out on your own outside class. It’s a good place to grow academically, especially if you’re self-motivated.

Amazing

It was an amazing experience to study at Catolica as a Erasmus student. Professors were really nice and helpful but at the same time they teach you a lot in interesting way. I can say that the level of education is high and the professors are really good. Also, university supports Erasmus student by organizing welcome dinners or meetings with local students. I really appreciate the time which I spend at Catolica as a student.

Highly recommend

I appreciate the university’s inclusive environment and the convenient location of its Paris campus, which brings together a diverse mix of French and international students. Although classes are intensive, the 18-month programme is generally well-structured, offering a balanced blend of academic learning and career preparation. Professors are approachable, supportive, and receptive to student feedback. Emlyon’s strong network of global university partners and opportunities to travel for academic and career-related events add great value. While the Paris campus hosts various events, some major university and campus life activities still take place in Lyon, which can be slightly inconvenient for Paris-based students—but it’s understandable given the current size of the campus. Overall, the programme combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning through company projects, and the university’s presence in both Lyon and Paris offers great networking and professional growth opportunities.

MIM program review

Firstly, IESEG’s Paris campus is very well located in the corporate hub of the city, which allows students to network with working professionals. IESEG’s faculty is extremely diverse (85% of the professors are international) which brings a diverse set of knowledge. However, I feel there is some room for improvement, such as the diversity in the classroom which was not as expected, as a result, it lacked interesting classroom discussions. IESEG could encourage more international students for the MIM program.
Integration into the culture and the school was also a thing which I felt a bit off, but there is a solution to that, and that is – TO LEARN FRENCH !!
I would like to mention, that learning the language would be the best effort a student can make. It will make your life much easier, it will allow you to explore the culture, connect with the students and participate in the student clubs and associations.
