Verified student reviews are hugely valuable for prospective students. It’s why we created the EDUopinions Student Reviews Guides, to give students real insights into which universities and destinations are well-rated by students. This year, our guide is bigger than ever before, with five different rankings across the entire student experience from student life to jobs, all decided by ratings from real student reviews. If you haven’t had a chance to read the guide for this year, these are our hand-picked Student Reviews Guide highlights.
Top Universities and Business Schools of the Year
Our top 10 universities and business schools rankings are perhaps the most significant of all our individual guides. This year, readers got some hints as to who might make the final 2024 list as we published a provisional ranking half-way through the year. In fact, six universities that featured in that ranking went on to rank in our list, including the number-one university of 2024, Vilnius University.
Other top universities featuring in the list include the University of Liverpool in the UK and Jagiellonian University in Poland. Compared to traditional university rankings, our top 10 included institutions across Europe, including Italy, Spain, Belgium and Denmark.
The business schools list, meanwhile, is dominated by institutions in France, which isn’t surprising considering that the country has a reputation for business studies. For example, renowned French grande école schools such as IÉSEG School of Management, SKEMA Business School and ESCP Business School are all on the list. However, Italian schools beat the French to the number one and two spots.

Best and Worst Degrees for Job Prospects
In previous years, our best and worst degrees for job prospects ranking has contained some surprises (like medicine appearing in the worst careers list), but this year, some predictability has returned to the list. The best degrees for job prospects list is split equally between STEM and non-STEM subjects, which will relieve students of social sciences and humanities, subjects that usually get a bad reputation for career opportunities. On the other hand, non-STEM subjects slightly outnumber STEM subjects in the worst career prospects ranking.
Business subjects feature twice in the best degrees for job prospects ranking, while health degrees like nursing and dentistry also receive high scores. Given the competitive nature of the film and TV industry, you might not be surprised to see performing arts among the worst degrees for job prospects, but the fact that civil engineering ranks so high might be a shock.

Best Universities for International Students
For this ranking, we only considered ratings from students who had self-certified that they were an international student when posting their review. Interestingly, this ranking doesn’t differ all that much from our overall top 10 universities list, suggesting that the overall student experience doesn’t vary much between home and international students.
UK universities feature most on the list, with two ranking among the top five: the University of Liverpool and Keele University. Given that the UK is one of the most popular destinations for international students, their presence in the list isn’t a surprise.
However, smaller universities are also investing in the international student experience. For example, Vilnius University ranks higher than UK and Dutch universities, while the Catholic University of Portugal is the only Southern European university to be included.

Top Student Cities in Europe
EDUopinions has produced numerous student city rankings over the years. We especially enjoy highlighting those lesser-known destinations where students can experience a top student quality of life, which is why we’ve split this year’s ranking into two guides: one for large cities, and one for those hidden gem destinations.
Among the big cities ranking are destinations that have previously ranked highly in the QS Student City ranking, including popular destinations like London, Munich and Paris. Interestingly, the honour of number one student city is taken by a relatively small capital.
Meanwhile, our hidden gems ranking also contains some capital cities, but perhaps ones that students wouldn’t immediately think of. So, Dublin makes the list, as does Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Other features, although they might not immediately thought of as student cities, are known for having a significant student population, such as Coventry and Leeuwarden.
