Exploring ISEG

ISEG Lisbon is one of the most prestigious business and economics schools in Portugal, one of the three top-ranked providers at undergraduate, graduate and executive training level. Founded in Lisbon in 1911, ISEG is a research-oriented institution, with a strong mission to guide and train students into the most skilled managers, providing each student with cutting edge knowledge in the relevant areas of interest.

The School offers a multicultural environment as it has approximately 4,700 students, 10% of whom are foreign students from more than 50 nationalities. The MBA programme is taught entirely in English, is accredited by AACSB and has a duration of 18 months with classes offered in the after-hours regime.

ISEG Lisbon alumni are high profile professionals who occupy the top positions in renowned companies all over the world. The active involvement of the Alumni Association, one of the largest and most respected in the country, together with Career Management Office, known in Portuguese as the “GAA – Gabinete de Apoio ao Aluno,” has made the School’s alumni quite competitive in the job market.

Housed in a former convent, ISEG is beautifully converted to provide purpose-built modern facilities while preserving the character and features of the original buildings.

Architecturally, it comes harmoniously together in a charming complex gracefully mingling the “modern” and the “old”. The School is particularly famous for its “Francisco Pereira de Moura” Library, which houses the largest collection of books and materials in the areas of the economic sciences and business in Portugal.

How to Apply

To become a student in one of Lisbon’s top business schools you must meet some admission conditions depending on your student status (e.g. EU student, international student, Brazilian Applicant, Chinese Applicants). You submit your Master’s Degrees application form only online via the ISEG site during one of the three application Phases. If your application has been neither accepted nor rejected during one Phase can be carried over to the next phase, depending on the number of available places stipulated by the respective Coordinator for each phase, and whether the required conditions have been met. However, if you are an international student (outside Europe) are not recommended during the 3rd Phase, on account of the time, it takes to issue visas.

To complete your application you will need the appropriate:

  • ID documentation
  • Undergraduate degree conclusion certificate with a final average grade
  • Grade transcript with full list course list and grades
  • English or Portuguese language proficiency certificate (minimum level: B2 1, TOEFL 70, IELTS 6.5 ) for candidates for English or Portuguese degrees (except for candidates from Portugal, those from the Portuguese-speaking countries, and Brazilians)
  • Motivation letter
  • Curriculum Vitae

For further information, you can consult the specific important deadlines and timetables, as well as objectives, Masters rules and regulations and tuition fees, the University calendar and other important information on ISEG site.

Fees, Funding, and Scholarships

ISEG offers a very comprehensive package of fees. Tuition fee rates vary depending on various factors, such as the academic year of study, the level of the programme, and whether you are an EU or otherwise-based student.

Student Life

Do not forget that Lisbon is considered by international media, such as CNN, to be the “coolest city in Europe”. There you can find tradition, culture, entertainment, and great emotions under long hours of sunlight. In addition, ISEG provides students with access to a number of activities for personal and academic development such as the ISEG JBC, a non-profit organisation mainly founded and managed by college students with an aim to offer them learning through experiences.

The professors group quality

My opinion is that the school has much to offer consider the quality of the professors. Most of the hard skills are taught by professors with phd in Administration or by people very outstanding in their own fields.
