1. Relaxing at the beach:

If you live in an area where there are beaches all around you, take advantage of it now! Summer is the best time to get that summer tan going and also to just let go and relax at the beach. Switch to shorts and tops and take a dip in that cool ocean. Take your surfboard, relax with a bunch of friends or just get that summer tan going on. If you don’t know any water sports, this is a great time to learn some! Not only will you pass your time, but it will also be a fun summer activity!

2.Get some culture:

No beaches around you? No problem. Great summer activities for students include just soaking in the culture of your city. Explore the museums (most of them are free for students or offer some great student discounts, so you don’t have to spend much). You can also go to a film festival and get your dose of some entertainment which might even help you with your art course. Another fun activity for students is to go see a concert, a play or even a music festival.

3.Learn something new:

Summer is a great time to learn something new. It doesn’t have to be expensive or anything. Maybe a friend can teach you or you can learn through YouTube. There are free classes everywhere these days. We all know that at some point or the other we have had the desire to learn a music instrument. Play the piano, learn the flute, or even play the drums. Now that you have the time to learn, just put your heart and soul into it.  If you do not want to learn an instrument, then you can even take classes to make pottery, learn how to paint or just get in touch with your creative side. If you love writing, maybe you can also learn more about that. Another great, fun way to meet people and pass your time is to enrol in a photography class. Meet people, learn something new, pass your time in a productive manner – a new hobby never hurts anyone!

4. Explore nature and get physical:

If you stay in a hill area, then this is a great time to not only burn some of those calories but also to explore and hike. Plan a trek with your friends, do camping, get in touch with nature and just relax. You can also do some adventurous activities like hiking, paragliding, mountain climbing, rafting and much more. If you have never done all of this, summers are a great time to indulge in such adventurous activities. Plus, adventure sports are great summer activities for students. You can also try new forms of exercises – yoga, pilates, Zumba, spinning; the options are endless these days! Another way to staying fit and having fun is to join a community sports team. Not only will you make some new friends over the summer, but it will also be a good way to exercise and pass time! See what is available in your city and where can you join a few months for free.

5. Get lost in a book:

If you don’t want to venture out too far from your home, just make a list of books you have been wanting to read for a long time and finish reading them! Reading is a great way to not only pass time but also to gain some knowledge. Fiction, science fiction, horror are also great genres to read when one wants to pass time and not spend too much money. If books aren’t your thing, you can read a magazine. It can be “The Economist” or even something relaxing like, “The People”. When was the last time you just relaxed and read a magazine? If you don’t want to spend your summer buried in books, you can also go for audiobooks. Consider listening to audiobooks which you can listen to while working out or driving around.
