The best thing about the university is that the system does not ask too much for outputs, which emphasizes learning and student self-discovery. As a business student, there is no better way of learning to think for oneself than when a student has time to venture out into the real world. Other universities, as far as people who informed me, still use exams and quizzes to gauge a student's ability. While these can be helpful academically, a student would have no time other than the aim of passing the modules. Bath Spa University does the opposite: it requires at least one or two maximum outputs per module in a given course (business administration, e.g.). The best thing this year is the weekend class option. I am only required to attend my classes once a week. This shows how the university is willing to provide flexibility to working or generally busy students. Regardless, besides being attentive to the student's learning and schedule needs, the university also does a great job at providing modules that are important. What I did not like so far is that we had no general finance modules. As a business student, learning about stocks and IPO is crucial and this was not covered in my BA program.
The Chemistry and Biology program at the University of Bath is exceptional for students who enjoy hands-on learning. Weekly lab sessions are a highlight, allowing us to apply theoretical concepts in a practical environment. The facilities are state-of-the-art, and the support from PhD demonstrators during lab sessions is invaluable. The interdisciplinary approach of combining chemistry with biology opens up diverse career paths in research, healthcare, and industry. The tutorials are small and interactive, fostering a supportive learning environment where complex topics are broken down effectively. However, the workload can be intense, especially during exam periods, requiring strong time management skills. The placement year is another major advantage, offering industry exposure that enhances career prospects.
