I’m excited to share my educational journey at one of the world’s highly ranked institutions and the top university in Central and Eastern Europe — Vilnius University. In 2024, I was accepted to study International Business at Vilnius University Business School. My decision to pursue higher education in Lithuania — a small country that’s not often in the spotlight — was both bold and deeply intentional. I come from Nigeria, with a background in Electrical Engineering, and have built a professional career in sales, rising to a managerial level. Over time, I rediscovered my passion for business, which led me to establish a few ventures and make strategic investments back home. As someone who seizes meaningful opportunities, I realized that to truly grow and operate at an international level, I needed to further develop myself, and that meant acquiring quality business education in a global context. Through extensive research, I discovered that Lithuania offered a unique combination of affordable yet high-quality education, reasonable student housing, and English-taught programmes. Even more appealing were the opportunities for travel, internships, leisure, and academic exchanges across Europe and beyond. Nearly a year into my studies, I can confidently say that the experience has been deeply enriching. The professors are knowledgeable, approachable, and truly invested in students’ academic growth. Classes are structured, and the curriculum is practical, with real-world problem-solving, presentations, and in-class demonstrations. Some key highlights of my experience include: * Free Lithuanian language classes * Merit-based scholarships are awarded every semester * A highly multicultural environment, with students from countries like Pakistan, Ukraine, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, and others, fostering an incredible opportunity to network and build long-lasting, cross-border relationships. Outside academics, the student-friendly policy allows me to work part-time, which helps support myself and gain additional experience, all while keeping academic excellence as the top priority. I also enjoy the beauty and charm of Vilnius, especially its Old Town, where there’s always something happening year-round, from architectural sights and street performances to delicious food on every corner. In summary, Vilnius University has exceeded my expectations, both academically and personally. I highly encourage prospective students, especially those from emerging markets, to consider Lithuania and this outstanding institution as a pathway to quality education, global exposure, and personal growth. Feel free to reach out to me via https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-o-157bbb23/ if you need any information about studying at Vilnius University, and I’d be happy to assist. I am currently studying in the Tourism and Recreation programme and have completed four semesters. Overall, my experience at SMK College of Applied Sciences has been positive. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical activities, helping students understand how the tourism and recreation industry works in real-life situations. The lecturers are generally supportive and willing to help students when needed. Classes cover a variety of topics related to tourism, hospitality, recreation, and business, which provides a broad understanding of the field. I also appreciate the opportunity to work on projects and assignments that encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills. The college has an international environment, allowing students to meet people from different countries and cultures. This makes studying more interesting and helps improve communication skills. One area that could be improved is the organization of some administrative processes, which can occasionally take longer than expected. However, this has not significantly affected my studies. I would recommend SMK College of Applied Sciences to students who are interested in tourism and recreation and are looking for a practical, career-oriented study programme.
