My experience at the University of Zambia (UNZA) has been deeply enriching, both academically and personally. As a student in the School of Education, I found the academic rigor to be quite strong, especially within the Geography programme. The lecturers are generally knowledgeable and approachable, and many go the extra mile to support students, particularly during research and thesis writing phases.
UNZA also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and student unions, which provided valuable opportunities for leadership development and peer networking. However, like many public universities in the region, UNZA has faced infrastructure and resource constraints, particularly in terms of internet connectivity, access to updated materials, and occasional class disruptions due to administrative challenges.
Despite these limitations, the environment fosters a strong sense of resilience and academic discipline. My time there has been instrumental in shaping my commitment to environmental sustainability and education reform. I would recommend UNZA to students who are self-motivated, enjoy academic independence, and are passionate about contributing to national development through education.
