My experience at the Universidad del Zulia (LUZ) was quite ambivalent. LUZ wasn’t for everyone because they were well known for the high standards they had in their curriculum. Although they honored such a reputation, my disappointment comes from its fragility toward the socio-political circumstances that affected the country. Most students weren’t able to continue their careers due to the indefinite strike that most teachers held against the government back then. I was forced to leave LUZ, change my approach regarding career development opportunities, and become a virtual assistant. For what I’ve described here, I wouldn’t recommend studying at LUZ unless you’re willing to extend your undergraduate career up to 10 years; for some, it is just not plausible. However, I managed to achieve a Modern Language degree thanks to a paid course LUZ offered back then.
